Headaches 1
- Dull, pulsating, or stabbing - headaches are common and can be triggered by various factors such as stress and lack of sleep, but also by infections or injuries to the cervical spine.
- Tension headaches are the most widespread form and affect up to 78% of people.
Migraine 2
- Migraine is a highly debilitating primary headache disorder and is one of the most common health problems worldwide.
- There are two main types: Migraine without aura is characterized by typical headaches and accompanying symptoms. In migraine with aura, formerly also called ocular migraine, visual or sensory disturbances such as zig-zag lines or flashes of light occur before the headache.
- Migraine can cause pulsating or throbbing, often one-sided headaches and worsen with physical exertion. In some patients, this type of headache is associated with nausea and/or vomiting.
Cluster headaches3
- Cluster headaches are extremely severe, one-sided headaches that occur near an eye or temple and, if untreated, can last from 15 minutes to 3 hours.
- They are accompanied by watery eyes, stuffy or runny nose, swollen eyelid, pressure in the ear, and sometimes restlessness or agitation.
- These attacks can occur several times a day or every other day.
Colds4
- Colds are very common infections of the upper respiratory tract.
- Symptoms usually include a sore throat, but also fever, difficulty swallowing, and headaches.
- If coughing, a runny nose, or hoarseness also occur, it is usually a viral infection.
- In less common cases, a bacterial infection may be present, which is usually accompanied by more severe sore throat, sudden fever, and sometimes swollen lymph nodes.
Menstrual pain
- Menstrual pain refers to cramp-like lower abdominal pain that occurs shortly before and during menstruation. This period pain can be so severe that it significantly impairs well-being and daily performance. 5
- The pain is caused by contractions of the uterine muscles, which shed the uterine lining.5
- Regular endurance sports, refraining from nicotine consumption, and an adequate supply of vitamin B6 and omega-3 fatty acids can help relieve menstrual pain.5
- Endometriosis can also lead to severe period pain. This condition causes tissue similar to the uterine lining to grow outside the uterus. This leads to many different symptoms, such as severe lower abdominal pain or constipation.6
