Neck pain
Tension or a stiff neck can be very painful!
Often, the pain also radiates to the shoulders, upper arms, or arms. Even simple movements like turning the head or lifting an object are often enough to trigger discomfort.
Causes
The reasons for neck pain are varied: from muscle tension and poor posture to accidents or chronic changes such as osteoarthritis.
Common triggers include:
- a consistently poor posture while sitting, lying down, or watching TV
- extreme turning or twisting of the head
- sudden jolts or whiplash, for example in an accident
- stress or prolonged tension
Prevention
The good news: A lot can be actively influenced.
Helpful tips include:
- An ergonomic sitting position for longer activities such as office work
- Choosing a suitable mattress and a good sleeping position
- Conscious movements and avoiding long, rigid positions
- Regular relaxation or stretching exercises to relieve tension.
