At the first signs of a sore throat, TANTUM VERDE® PROTECT is the right solution. The mouth spray helps in the early stages and with mild symptoms such as a scratchy throat and has a triple effect:

• relieves pain
• reduces inflammation
• fights germs (antiseptic and bactericidal)

An additional area of application is the short-term, supportive local treatment of irritation of the throat, mouth and gums, for gingivitis and before and after tooth extraction.

The TANTUM VERDE® lozenges are used for the symptomatic treatment of painful inflammations and swelling in the mouth and throat.

The active ingredient in TANTUM VERDE® is benzydamine hydrochloride, which has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. After rapid absorption and local accumulation in the inflamed tissue, symptoms quickly subside. TANTUM VERDE® is well tolerated locally and provides targeted therapy for inflammation symptoms and difficulty swallowing.

Who are TANTUM VERDE® lozenges suitable for?
TANTUM VERDE® lozenges are suitable for adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age.

How should TANTUM VERDE® sore throat lozenges be used?
Adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age should slowly dissolve one lozenge in their mouth 3-4 times a day.

From 2 years of age, we recommend TANTUM VERDE® Mouth Spray (30 ml), which is particularly suitable for local application - even at night.

Can TANTUM VERDE® lozenges also be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
When used as intended, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

What ingredients are contained in TANTUM VERDE® lozenges (mint)?
The active ingredient is: benzydamine hydrochloride. Each lozenge contains 3 mg benzydamine hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: aspartame (E 951), isomalt, menthol, citric acid monohydrate, peppermint flavor (contains benzyl alcohol, citronellol, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol and linalool), lemon flavor (contains benzyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, D-limonene, geraniol, linalool and butylated hydroxyanisole [E 320]), quinoline yellow (E 104) and indigotine (E 132).

Do not use TANTUM VERDE® lozenges if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride or the other ingredients.

Causes and effects of sore throats

We often only think about our throat when it causes us discomfort. Yet it is essential for many everyday things: speaking, laughing, singing and even eating - we can only do all of this with a healthy throat. If it then scratches, hurts or our voice fails, even a short conversation becomes a challenge. Who would have thought how much our social life depends on a functioning throat?(2)
Sore throats, also known as pharyngitis, can be painful and uncomfortable for several days. Typical symptoms include:

• Pain and difficulty swallowing
• Hoarseness
• Dry cough
• Scratchy throat

These complaints are caused by inflammations in the throat area, such as in the pharynx, larynx or tonsils (3-5). Such inflammations are often triggered by viruses or bacteria (3). Therefore, in the case of throat complaints, it is particularly important not only to relieve the pain, but also to combat the inflammatory reaction in order to eliminate the cause of the complaints.
