Seresto® is a veterinary medicinal product for the long-lasting protection of small dogs up to 8 kg against fleas and ticks. The odorless and water-resistant collar contains imidacloprid and flumethrin and provides protection for up to 8 months, depending on the parasite.

Additionally, Seresto® is effective against biting lice and reduces the risk of certain infections transmitted by ticks and sandflies.

Intended use

Seresto® for small dogs is intended for the prevention and treatment of flea infestations as well as for the control of ticks and biting lice.

The collar is suitable for dogs up to 8 kg and can be used on puppies from 7 weeks of age.

Collar length: 36 cm.

Properties and effect

Seresto® contains two active ingredients:

• Imidacloprid acts against adult fleas and their larvae.

• Flumethrin has a repellent and acaricidal (killing) effect against ticks.

The active ingredients are released continuously in low, effective amounts and distributed over the skin and coat.

Protection against ticks and vector-borne diseases

Seresto® has an acaricidal effect against Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, and Dermacentor reticulatus, and a repellent effect against Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus.

Existing ticks should be removed before applying the collar, as they may not be killed within the first 48 hours. Protection against new tick infestations begins within two days.

Due to its effect against Rhipicephalus sanguineus, the risk of transmission of Babesia canis vogeli and Ehrlichia canis is reduced for seven months.

Seresto® also reduces the risk of infection by Leishmania infantum, which is transmitted by sandflies, for up to 8 months.

Application

Remove the collar from the protective pouch immediately before use, unroll it, and remove any plastic tabs on the inside.

Place the collar around the dog's neck so that about two fingers fit between the neck and the collar. Then, guide the end through the loops and cut off any excess length beyond 2 cm.

The collar should be worn continuously for the entire duration of its effect. The fit should be checked regularly and adjusted, especially for growing puppies.

Safety closure

Seresto® features a safety mechanism designed to reduce the risk if the dog gets caught. The ratchet mechanism allows the collar to widen if pulled.

Storage

Keep out of reach of children.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the foil pouch and tin with "Exp.".

Seresto® is a veterinary medicinal product.

Seresto® 1.25 g + 0.56 g collar is intended for dogs up to 8 kg. For dogs over 8 kg, Seresto® 4.50 g + 2.03 g collar is intended.

Side effects and tolerability

Like all veterinary medicinal products, Seresto® can cause side effects.

Especially at the beginning of use, the skin in the area of the collar should be checked. In case of noticeable skin reactions or other complaints, please refer to the package leaflet and seek veterinary advice if necessary.
