Schüßler Salts for Pets – Mineral Salts according to Dr. Schüßler

Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler (1821–1898) was a German physician from Oldenburg. Originally, he worked as a homeopathic doctor, but he intensively studied the then-new findings in cell research and mineralology.

He assumed that certain minerals are particularly important for the function of body cells. From this, he developed his "Biochemistry according to Schüßler" and initially described 12 so-called "functional remedies" – the well-known Schüßler Salts No. 1–12.

Today, these mineral salts are used not only in humans but also in animals, especially in animal naturopathy and by experienced pet owners.

What are Schüßler Salts for animals?

Schüßler salts are mineral compounds in very low dosages, usually in homeopathic potencies such as D6 or D12. Depending on the product, they are used as tablets, drops, or externally as ointments and gels.

The basic idea:
In case of disturbances in the mineral balance of the cells, certain mineral salts are supposed to support the balance in the tissue. These considerations originate from the 19th century and are still used in empirical medicine today.

Schüßler Salts for Pets Today

Schüßler salts are part of complementary veterinary medicine. Many pet owners use them:

• as gentle support in everyday life

• in addition to veterinary therapies

• for long-term support during stressful times

The dosage and duration of use depend on the animal species, body weight, and situation and should always be individually adjusted.
