Sab® Simplex Drops

Product Details & Mandatory Information

For gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence, feeling of fullness and tension
Further product information

Sab® Simplex Drops

Set consisting of:

  • 2x Sab® Simplex Drops

What is Sab Simplex and what is it used for?
Gas accumulations in the gastrointestinal tract can occur in various ways, e.g. due to improper diet, gas-producing foods, digestive disorders, but also due to swallowing air. Especially in infants and young children, flatulence often occurs due to drinking too quickly.

The gas accumulations in the gastrointestinal tract are then found as small-bubbled, sluggish foam. The active ingredient in Sab Simplex, simethicone, causes the foam to break down. This allows the intestinal gases to be released naturally.

The active ingredient itself is not absorbed into the bloodstream but is excreted unchanged. 25 drops correspond to 1 ml.

Application for:

  • excessive gas formation and accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract with symptoms such as flatulence, feeling of fullness and tension in the upper abdomen

Application after consultation with the treating physician:

  • for increased gas formation after operations
  • for the preparation of diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area to reduce gas shadows (X-ray, sonography) and for the preparation of gastrointestinal endoscopies
  • for defoaming in case of detergent poisoning

How to take Sab Simplex?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

It is best to take Sab Simplex after meals and before going to bed. You should shake the bottle well before use. Always hold the bottle vertically downwards for dripping and tap lightly on the bottom of the bottle with your finger.

The following dosages apply for the treatment of flatulence and feeling of fullness:

Infants and bottle-fed babies under 2 years of age
For infants and bottle-fed babies, up to 7 drops (0.3 ml) of Sab Simplex are added to the bottle up to 4 times a day. Sab Simplex mixes easily with bottle milk and other liquids, e.g. milk.

Young children from 2 years of age
Young children take 15 drops (0.6 ml) with or after meals. If necessary, 15 drops can also be taken before going to bed.

Schoolchildren and adults
Schoolchildren: 20 - 30 drops (0.8 - 1.2 ml)
Adults: 30 - 45 drops (1.2 - 1.8 ml)

Take this dose every 4 - 6 hours. It can also be increased if necessary.

The duration of use depends on the course of the symptoms. Sab Simplex can be used for a longer period if necessary.

In case of prolonged complaints or an increase in upper abdominal complaints, a diagnostic clarification should be carried out by your doctor.

For the following applications (after consultation with your doctor), it is best to administer after removing the dropper insert:
For the preparation of an X-ray examination, 3 - 6 teaspoons (15 - 30 ml) of Sab Simplex should be taken on the evening before the examination.

For the preparation of an ultrasound examination (sonography), the intake of 3 teaspoons (15 ml) of Sab Simplex on the evening before and 3 teaspoons (15 ml) approximately 3 hours before the start of the examination is recommended.

Before gastrointestinal endoscopies, 1/2 - 1 teaspoon (2.5 - 5 ml) of Sab Simplex should be taken.

In case of detergent poisoning, the dosage depends on the severity of the poisoning. A minimum dose of 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Sab Simplex is recommended.

If you have taken more Sab Simplex than you should
Sab Simplex is harmless when administered orally. Even when very high doses are used, no damage is expected.

If you forget to take Sab Simplex
Do not take twice the dose if you have forgotten the previous dose.
