RodiCare® instant is a high-quality, high-fiber, and low-calcium complete feed in powder form for dwarf rabbits, guinea pigs, degus, and chinchillas that are temporarily unable to ingest solid food independently.

It contains a high proportion of crude fiber, essential vitamins and minerals, as well as a balanced herbal mixture. The powder is mixed with water to form a mash and is particularly suitable for the temporary feeding of weakened or inappetent animals, as well as during convalescence.

Which animals is it suitable for?

Suitable as a complete feed for:

• Dwarf rabbits

• Guinea pigs

• Degus

• Chinchillas

RodiCare® instant can also be used as a feed base for other inappetent small rodents as well as herbivorous reptiles and birds. In these cases, the feeding must be supplemented according to the needs of the respective species.

Also suitable for the rearing of orphaned young animals as well as for the supplementary feeding of weak young animals, provided they are no longer exclusively dependent on milk.

Properties and nutrients

The high crude fiber content from alpine grass meal, soybean hulls, and oat bran supports physiological intestinal activity.

Pectin and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) serve as prebiotics and support the desired intestinal flora in the cecum and colon.

Fenugreek seeds, calamus root, and turmeric, as well as fennel, peppermint, caraway, licorice, and chamomile, complement the formula with selected plant components.

Feeding recommendation

Mix 1 volume part of powder with approximately 2 volume parts of warm water until a creamy mash is formed. Depending on requirements, the consistency can be adjusted with more or less water.

Unless otherwise recommended by a veterinarian:

Feed at least 60–80 ml of the prepared mash per kg of body weight per day. Divide the daily amount into 5–6 meals.

Very weak animals should be fed as frequently as possible, about every 2–3 hours, in small portions.

The actual amount and frequency required can vary depending on the animal species, body weight, age, and state of health and should be adjusted by a veterinarian if necessary.

Instructions for administration

Initially offer the mash in a bowl or on a small spoon.

If there is no voluntary food intake, RodiCare® instant can be carefully administered in small portions into the side of the mouth using a suitable syringe. The animal must be able to swallow each portion independently.

During the transition from liquid to solid food, the powder can also be formed into small dough clumps with a little water.

As soon as the animal is again ingesting sufficient solid food, the amount of RodiCare® instant can be reduced accordingly.

Storage of the prepared mash

Store prepared mash in a cool place and consume within 12 hours.

Do not feed directly from the refrigerator.

Important notes

High-quality hay and fresh water should always be available for free access.

Persistent or complete refusal of food must be taken seriously, especially in rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small herbivores. The cause should be clarified by a veterinarian.

For very weak animals, digestive problems, lack of bowel movements, a bloated abdomen, or a deterioration in general condition, a veterinary examination is necessary.

Store in a dry place and not above 25 °C.
