RodiCare® Hairball is a complementary feed for dwarf rabbits and guinea pigs containing fully pre-swollen psyllium husks, lactulose, as well as fennel, chamomile, and peppermint.

The formula was developed to provide nutritional support for the digestive tract and can be used in particular when large amounts of hair are ingested, for example during shedding.

Properties and effect

Psyllium husks contain natural mucilages and can bind large amounts of water. The psyllium husks contained in RodiCare® Hairball are already fully pre-swollen and can therefore coat ingested hair or hairballs.

Fennel, chamomile, and peppermint supplement the formula and support the digestive tract. RodiCare® Hairball also contains lactulose.

Feeding recommendation

Dwarf rabbits:

1–2 ml twice daily over a period of 5 days.

If necessary, the amount can be doubled after consultation with a veterinarian, or the feeding can be repeated or extended.

For preventative feeding, RodiCare® Hairball can be given 2–3 days per week or once daily.

Exceeding the recommended feeding amount may cause diarrhea.

Instructions for administration

Before feeding, set the injector ring so that the left edge is at the desired amount. Each graduation on the scale corresponds to 0.5 ml.

If the animal does not take the product voluntarily, carefully insert the injector into the side of the mouth. Administer only small portions and ensure that the animal swallows on its own.

Never place the animal on its back during administration, as this increases the risk of choking.

3 injectors of 12 ml each.

Storage and shelf life

Do not store above 25 °C.

Use up the injector after opening.

Shelf life: 24 months.

Important notes

Do not use in case of intestinal obstruction.

Animals with constipation or a lack of fecal output must be examined by a veterinarian, as digestive disorders in rabbits and guinea pigs can have serious consequences.

If there is a loss of appetite, a bloated abdomen, pain, or a significant deterioration in general condition, veterinary advice should also be sought immediately.

Side effects and tolerance

If the recommended feeding amount is exceeded, diarrhea may occur.

In case of digestive problems or unusual reactions, feeding should be stopped and veterinary advice should be sought.
