Caraway (Carum carvi) belongs to the parsley family (Apiaceae) and is one of Europe's oldest known spice and cultivated plants. Its aromatic fruits have been valued for centuries and are used in both traditional herbal medicine and nutrition.

Caraway is native to Europe, West Asia, and North Africa and is now cultivated worldwide. The plant reaches a height of up to 80 cm and forms characteristic white to pink flower umbels.
