What is Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - nasal spray and what is it used for?
Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - nasal spray is used for various types of colds in children aged 10 and over, adolescents and adults.

If the paranasal sinuses are also affected, to facilitate the drainage of secretions.

Otrivin constricts the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa and the adjacent area of the pharynx and thus has a decongestant effect. This allows for up to 12 hours of freer breathing through the nose within a few minutes. The aromatic substances menthol and eucalyptol (= cineol) have a cooling effect and additionally facilitate nasal breathing, especially during the night. as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or
pharmacist if you are not sure.

Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - nasal spray is suitable for children aged 10 and over, adolescents and adults.
For children aged 2 to 10 years, other Otrivin preparations (Otrivin 0.05% -
nasal drops or Otrivin 0.05% - nasal spray without preservatives) are available.

Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - nasal spray must not be used in newborns, infants, toddlers and children under 10 years of age.

Dosage:
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor:
Children aged 10 and over, adolescents and adults: 1, but no more than 3 times a day, 1 – 2 sprays into each nostril.
In general, an interval of at least 8 hours should be observed between two applications.
In children up to 14 years of age, use should be supervised by parents or adults.

Method of application:

• For nasal application.
  
• Thorough cleaning of the nose (blowing your nose) before use.
  
• Before the first use of the spray: remove the protective cap and press the white attachment down several times until the first spray is released. The spray is now ready for any
  further use.
  
• Insert the spray opening into one nostril and pump (pull back the spray attachment before releasing pressure). Breathe lightly through the nose during spraying.
  
• Replace the protective cap.

For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is important to note that each
spray should only be used by one and the same person.

Duration of treatment:
Otrivin Menthol 0.1% - nasal spray must not be used for longer than 7 days, unless
otherwise prescribed by a doctor. After 1 week of treatment, a break of several days must be taken.

The active ingredient is: Xylometazoline hydrochloride. 1 ml solution contains 1 mg Xylometazoline hydrochloride. The other ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, Cineol, Menthol, Sodium dihydrogen phosphate-
dihydrate, Sodium monohydrogen phosphate-dodecahydrate, Sodium chloride, Sodium edetate-dihydrate, Sorbitol, Macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, purified water 1 spray = 0.07 ml solution
