Otrivin® 0.1% Nasal Spray without Preservatives

What is Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray and what is it used for?
Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray is used for various types of rhinitis in children aged 10 and over, adolescents, and adults. If the paranasal sinuses are also affected, it helps facilitate secretion drainage. In cases of otitis media, it supports mucous membrane decongestion in the nasopharyngeal area. It also aids in rhinoscopy (examination of the inside of the nose).

Otrivin constricts the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa and the adjacent pharyngeal area, thus having a decongestant effect. This allows for freer breathing through the nose within a few minutes, lasting up to 12 hours. By using preservative-free Otrivin, the risk of allergies and intolerances due to certain preservatives (e.g., benzalkonium chloride) can be reduced in susceptible patients. If you do not feel better or even worse after 1 week, consult your doctor.

How to use Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray is suitable for children aged 10 and over, adolescents, and adults. For children aged 2 to 10 years, other Otrivin preparations (Otrivin 0.05% - nasal drops or Otrivin 0.05% - preservative-free nasal spray) are available. Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray must not be used in newborns, infants, toddlers, and children under 10 years of age.

Dosage:
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor:

• Children aged 10 and over, adolescents, and adults: 1 spray, but no more than 3 times a day, 1-2 sprays into each nostril. In general, there should be an interval of at least 8 hours between two applications.
• For children up to 14 years of age, use must be supervised by parents or adults.

Method of administration:

• For nasal administration
• Before use, thoroughly clean the nose (blow nose).
• Before the first use of the metered-dose spray: Remove the protective cap and press down the white applicator several times until the first spray is dispensed. The spray is now ready for any further use.

For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is important to note that each metered-dose spray may only be used by one person.

Duration of treatment:
Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray should not be used for more than 7 days, unless medically prescribed. After 1 week of treatment, a break of several days must be taken.

What Otrivin 0.1% - Preservative-Free Nasal Spray contains
The active ingredient is: Xylometazoline hydrochloride. 1 ml solution contains 1 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride. The other ingredients are: Sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, sodium edetate dihydrate, purified water - 1 spray = 0.07 ml solution
