When do I use Otriven 0.05% nasal drops?
For the decongestion of the nasal mucous membrane in case of a cold, episodic runny nose, allergic rhinitis. To facilitate the drainage of secretions in case of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and in case of catarrh of the Eustachian tube in conjunction with a cold.
Precautions
Like all decongestant nasal medications, Otriven 0.05% nasal drops should not be used for longer than 7 days. Reapplication should only take place after a break of several days.
Do not use Otriven 0.05% nasal drops:
· In case of hypersensitivity to xylometazoline or any of the other ingredients of Otriven 0.05% nasal drops, especially the preservative benzalkonium chloride
· In case of rhinitis sicca, a specific form of chronic rhinitis
· After surgical removal of the pituitary gland through the nose (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy) or other surgical interventions that expose the meninges
· In infants and young children under 2 years of age
Further information
Keep Otriven 0.05% nasal drops out of the reach of children. Do not use the nasal drops after the expiry date stated on the carton and label.
Ingredients
1ml solution contains 0.5mg xylometazoline hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: Purified water; sodium chloride; disodium phosphate dodecahydrate; sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate; sodium edetate; benzalkonium chloride.
