OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin is a medical device containing WH67® humic acids for use in the gastrointestinal tract.

The humic acids contained possess distinct binding properties and can bind certain undesirable substances in the intestine. At the same time, they interact with the surface of the intestinal mucosa.

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin is used in particular for non-specific diarrhea and gastrointestinal complaints.

What is OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin intended for?

According to the manufacturer, OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin is particularly suitable for:

• non-specific diarrhea

• gastrointestinal complaints

• binding certain undesirable substances in the intestine

• subsequent excretion of bound substances via the stool

• supporting the intestinal mucosa

• adults

The intestinal mucosa forms an important interface between the intestinal contents and the organism. It is, among other things, involved in the absorption of nutrients and, together with other structures, forms a natural barrier.

In the case of acute or prolonged gastrointestinal complaints, it is therefore not only symptom control that is important. Especially in the case of severe, recurring, or prolonged diarrhea, the cause should also be clarified.

What are humic acids?

Humic acids are complex organic compounds that arise during natural conversion and decomposition processes of plant material.

Materials rich in humic substances have been used traditionally for a long time. Today, standardized and controlled humic acid preparations are available for medical applications.

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin contains specially processed WH67® humic acids, which are obtained in Germany under controlled quality conditions.

How does OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin work?

An essential property of humic acids is their complex surface structure and the associated binding capacity.

Certain substances can be bound to the humic acids in the gastrointestinal tract and subsequently excreted along with them via the stool.

This physical mechanism of action is also the reason why a sufficient time interval must be maintained when taking medication and food supplements simultaneously.

WH67® humic acids and the intestinal mucosa

The WH67® humic acids come into direct contact with the intestinal mucosa in the intestine.

Due to their structure, they can spread on the mucosal surface and form a protective barrier there. As a result, the stressed intestinal mucosa can be shielded from certain substances in the intestinal contents.

These properties distinguish the mechanism of action from a pure absorption or binding of undesirable substances.

Intestinal barrier and gut microbiome

The intestinal mucosa, gut microbiome, and immune system are in a complex exchange with one another.

The intestinal barrier regulates, among other things, the contact between intestinal contents and the organism. At the same time, numerous microorganisms live on and near the mucosa.

Differentiation from activated charcoal

Both activated charcoal and humic acids possess binding properties but differ in terms of their chemical and structural characteristics.

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin is therefore not simply to be equated with an activated charcoal preparation.

Application and dosage

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin is preferably taken before, with, or after a meal.

Take the capsules whole with sufficient liquid, for example water or tea.

Adults

During the first 10 days:

2 capsules 3 times daily.

Subsequently, for example:

1 capsule 3 times daily until symptoms subside.

The duration of use is a maximum of 20 days.

Children over 6 years

During the first 10 days:

1 capsule 3 times daily.

Subsequently, for example:

1 capsule 2 times daily or 1 capsule 1 time daily until symptoms subside.

The duration of use is a maximum of 20 days.

Preoperative application

For adults, the following application is specified by the manufacturer:

2 capsules 3 times daily for at least 5 days before the planned surgery.

Preoperative application should be coordinated with the attending physician, especially if the patient is already taking medication.

Interactions with medicines and food supplements

Due to the distinct binding properties of the humic acids, a time interval to other preparations is particularly important.

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Humin should be taken with a time interval of at least 2 hours from other medicines and food supplements.

This applies in particular to medicines with a narrow therapeutic index or medications for which reliable absorption is particularly important, for example certain:

• hormones

• chemotherapeutic agents

• other medications that must be taken regularly

The time interval should also be observed for food supplements such as vitamins and minerals.

In the case of regular or important long-term medication, simultaneous use should be coordinated with the attending physician or the pharmacy as a precaution.

Diarrhea can lead to significant fluid and electrolyte loss. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure sufficient fluid intake, especially in children and the elderly.

In the case of severe or persistent diarrhea, blood in the stool, high fever, severe abdominal pain, severe vomiting, circulatory problems, or signs of dehydration, medical clarification is required.

In children, medical advice should be sought at an early stage in the event of persistent diarrhea.

The specified maximum duration of use of 20 days should be observed.
