Key role in defense – the oral microbiome

The mouth, nose, and throat are the first entry points for foreign germs. But our mouth has an important first defense system integrated: The oral microbiome, also known as oral flora or oral microbiota. These are naturally occurring microorganisms in the oral cavity, primarily beneficial bacteria, that live on the oral mucous membranes.

Our oral flora performs central key functions in the mouth and throat area. A large diversity of different bacteria displaces foreign germs and thus ensures that they do not settle in the oral cavity. In addition, some bacterial species of our oral flora can produce special defense substances that specifically attack and eliminate various pathogens.

A healthy oral microbiome consists of about 800 to 1,000 different bacterial species. Our lifestyle, in particular, influences the oral microbiome: Unhealthy eating, medication, or strong fluctuations in the pH value within the oral cavity, for example due to sugary foods, can affect the oral microbiome and reduce both the diversity and the number of beneficial bacteria. As a result, an imbalance, a so-called dysbiosis, arises, which means that our oral microbiome can no longer fully perform its tasks.

A healthy diet, maintaining a neutral pH value in the oral cavity, and the intake of bacteria found in the mouth and throat are therefore advisable. Vitamin D is also particularly important: because this vitamin contributes to the normal function of the immune system. In addition, Vitamin D contributes to normal cell division – also in the cells of the oral mucous membrane, which regenerates every eight to ten days.

How does OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND work?

OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND contains the naturally occurring bacterial strain Streptococcus salivarius K12, which has been tested in many studies, as well as Vitamin D. This vitamin ensures a normal function of the immune system in children and adults.

The sugar-free lozenge with a fruity strawberry flavor was specially developed for children.

How is OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND used?

Children from 3 years of age: 1 OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND lozenge once daily.

Adults: Allow 1 OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND lozenge to slowly dissolve in the mouth twice daily.

It is recommended to use before bedtime. The lozenge can be used directly after brushing your teeth.

Isomalt, bacterial strain*, magnesium stearate, strawberry flavor, vitamin D

* Bacterial strain Streptococcus salivarius K12 with at least 1 billion germs per lozenge.

Suitable for diabetics, children, pregnancy / breastfeeding.

One monthly pack (30 pcs.) of OMNi-BiOTiC® iMMUND contains a total of at least 30 billion bacteria.
