Magnesium Verla® Granules is a medicine containing the active ingredient magnesium L-hydrogenaspartate dihydrate. It is used to supplement the daily magnesium requirement when the supply from food and drinking water is insufficient.

Magnesium is an essential mineral required for numerous metabolic processes. It plays an important role in muscles, the nervous system, energy metabolism, and for maintaining normal bones and teeth.

Dosage and Administration

Take according to the package leaflet or as directed by a doctor.

Adults and adolescents over 14 years

• 1 sachet (5 g) 2 to 3 times daily

Children from 10 to 14 years

• 1 sachet (5 g) 1 to 2 times daily

Children from 6 to 9 years

• ½ to 1 sachet (5 g) once daily

Children under 6 years

• Use is not recommended due to insufficient experience.

Method of Administration

Dissolve the content of one sachet in half a glass of water, mineral water, tea or fruit juice and drink.

For better absorption, Magnesium Verla® Granules should be taken before meals.

Special Instructions

Magnesium Verla® Granules must not be taken:

• In case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients

• In case of severe kidney dysfunction

• In case of severe dehydration

In case of mild to moderate kidney dysfunction, caution is advised and medical supervision is required.

Interactions

A gap of 2 to 3 hours should be maintained with:

• Tetracycline antibiotics

• Sodium fluoride preparations

Certain medications can also affect magnesium balance, including:

• Diuretics

• Proton pump inhibitors

• Cisplatin

• Aminoglycoside antibiotics

• Amphotericin B

• Immunosuppressants

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Magnesium Verla® Granules can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Other Ingredients

• Lactose

• Sucrose

• Sodium

Contains less than 23 mg of sodium per sachet and is therefore considered almost sodium-free.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Magnesium Verla® Granules can have side effects, although not everyone experiences them.

Occasionally

• Soft stools

• Diarrhea

These symptoms can usually be remedied by reducing the dose or temporarily interrupting administration.

Rarely

• Fatigue, especially with high doses and impaired kidney function

This can indicate elevated magnesium levels in the blood. In this case, administration should be stopped and medical advice sought.

In case of overdose

Possible symptoms include:

• Diarrhea

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Drop in blood pressure

• Reduced reflexes

• Dizziness

• Breathing difficulties

• Heart rhythm disorders

If an overdose is suspected, a doctor should be contacted immediately.

Notes

• Contains lactose and sucrose.
