What is Levocetirizine Genericon and what is it used for?
Levocetirizine Genericon is a so-called antihistamine, a medicine for the treatment of allergies and their effects.
Levocetirizine Genericon is used in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and older for the treatment of

• allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis).
  
• hives (urticaria).
  

If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, contact your doctor.

How to take Levocetirizine Genericon?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The usual dose for adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and older is 1 film-coated tablet daily.

Special dosing instructions for special patient groups:
Patients with kidney and liver disorders

Do not take Levocetirizine Genericon without consulting your doctor if you have impaired kidney and/or liver function.

Patients with impaired kidney function may receive a lower dose, which depends on the severity of the kidney disease and, in children, also on body weight. The dose will be determined by your doctor.

Patients with severely impaired kidney function must not take Levocetirizine Genericon.

For patients with only impaired liver function, taking the normal dose is recommended.
Patients with both impaired liver and kidney function may receive a lower dose, which depends on the severity of the kidney disease and, in children, also on body weight. The dose will be determined by your doctor.

Elderly patients aged 65 years and over
If kidney function is normal, no dose adjustment is required in elderly patients.

Use in children
The use of Levocetirizine Genericon film-coated tablets is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

How and when should you take Levocetirizine Genericon?
For oral use. Take Levocetirizine Genericon whole with liquid. It can be taken with or without meals.

How long should you take Levocetirizine Genericon?
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms. Consult a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen after 3 days.

If you have taken more Levocetirizine Genericon than you should
If you have taken more Levocetirizine Genericon than you should, drowsiness may occur in adults. In children, initial excitement and restlessness may occur, followed by drowsiness.
If you suspect an overdose of Levocetirizine Genericon, please inform your doctor. They will decide on any necessary measures.

If you forget to take Levocetirizine Genericon
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you have forgotten a dose, take it as soon as you notice. Skip the forgotten dose if the next dose is almost due, and take the next dose at the usual time.

If you stop taking Levocetirizine Genericon
Stopping the treatment should not cause any harmful effects. Nevertheless, in rare cases, pruritus (severe itching) may occur after discontinuation, even if these symptoms were not present before treatment. The symptoms may disappear spontaneously. In some cases, the symptoms can be very intense and require resuming treatment. After resuming treatment, the symptoms should disappear.

The active substance is: Levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride, corresponding to 4.2 mg levocetirizine.
