Iodum is a homeopathic single remedy derived from iodine, a chemical element belonging to the halogen group. Iodine is an essential trace element found in nature primarily in seaweed and seawater.

Interestingly, iodine was discovered in 1811 by the French chemist Bernard Courtois while he was processing algae. It played an important role in medicine, especially in the treatment of thyroid diseases, before it was adapted for homeopathic use.

In homeopathy, Iodum is traditionally used for various ailments related to an over- or underactive thyroid. It is also used for metabolic disorders and to support the immune system.
