HYLO GEL® is tailored to the special needs of chronically dry eyes and severe forms of dry eyes. Due to the high content of hyaluronic acid, the highly viscous drops adhere particularly well to the eye surface.
Persistent and more severe symptoms such as itching, foreign body sensation, red and burning eyes are relieved, and the eye is permanently protected from irritation.

Long-lasting eye moistening due to highly concentrated hyaluronic acid
HYLO GEL® eye drops contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in some parts of the body and also in the eye. Due to the high content of 0.2% hyaluronic acid, HYLO GEL® is highly viscous
and forms a stable protective film on the irritated eye surface. The conjunctiva and cornea are intensively and lastingly supplied with moisture. Despite the gel-like consistency, vision is not impaired.
HYLO GEL® eye drops can also be used with hard and soft contact lenses.

Dosage:
Step 1:
Remove the protective cap before use.

Step 2:
Hold the bottle with the dropper tip downwards. Place your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle, and your other fingers on the bottom of the bottle.

Step 3:
Support the hand holding the bottle lightly with the other hand.

Step 4:
Tilt your head slightly backward and gently pull down the lower eyelid with your other hand. Apply firm pressure to the bottom of the bottle and instill one drop into the conjunctival sac. Thanks to the special COMOD® pump system, exactly 1 drop is dispensed. Close your eye slowly to spread the liquid across the eye surface. After use, immediately close the dropper tip with the cap.

DRY EYES
Dry eyes, also known as Sicca syndrome, are among the most common eye diseases. According to information from the German Professional Association of Ophthalmologists, every
5th adult in Germany is affected, and the trend is rising. One of the main causes is the increasing use of digital media on smartphones and tablets, as well as intensive screen work in professional life. In addition, environmental influences such as drafts, air conditioning, and fine dust pollution, as well as certain diseases, hormonal changes, and age-related processes, can cause various dry eye symptoms.

SURGICAL INTERVENTIONS ON THE EYE
Operations can lead to severe irritation and impair the supply of tear fluid to the eye. However, after eye surgery, a stable tear film is particularly important, as wounds can only heal well in a sufficiently moist environment. HYLO GEL® with highly concentrated and highly viscous hyaluronic acid has proven effective for postoperative care due to its intensive moistening and long-lasting adherence to the eye surface. Thanks to their preservative-free and phosphate-free composition, they can be safely used after surgery. The eye drops are also recommended for patients who already suffer from dry eyes before the operation.

REIMBURSEMENT BY HEALTH INSURANCE
HYLO GEL® is the first prescribable medical product for eye moistening in Germany. In cases of therapeutic necessity, costs can be reimbursed by statutory health insurance in certain cases. The moisturizing eye drops can be prescribed by a doctor according to Annex V of the German Drug Directive in cases of absence or damage to the tear gland, various autoimmune diseases, facial nerve paralysis (facial paresis), and incomplete eyelid closure (lagophthalmos).

How often should I use HYLO GEL® eye drops daily?
HYLO GEL® eye drops provide intensive and long-lasting moistening for severe and chronic forms of dry eye. Dose the eye drops individually according to your condition or the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. Generally, 1 drop of HYLO GEL® is instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day. For more severe symptoms, the eye drops can be used more often throughout the day. If you use HYLO GEL® in addition to another medicinal treatment with eye drops, please allow at least 30 minutes between applications. HYLO GEL® should be administered last in this case. If you also use an eye ointment, apply it to the conjunctival sac after using HYLO GEL®.

What should I consider if I use HYLO GEL® with contact lenses?
HYLO GEL® is also compatible with contact lenses. After inserting the corrective lenses, it is recommended to wait approximately 30 minutes before applying the moisturizing eye drops. This helps to avoid possible incompatibility reactions due to interactions between contact lens care products and HYLO GEL®. Due to the gel-like consistency of the eye drops, temporary streaking may occur immediately after instillation. This generally disappears after a few blinks.

How can I ensure adequate moistening of my eyes overnight?
HYLO GEL®, with its highly viscous hyaluronic acid, ensures particularly good adherence to the eye surface and a long-lasting moisturizing effect until morning. If you suffer particularly from severe dry eye symptoms at night, the application of eye drops can be supplemented by a moisturizing eye ointment overnight, such as HYLO NIGHT®. The ointment with vitamin A spreads well on the eye surface and improves the tear film.

What are the advantages of preservative-free eye drops?
Preservatives are used in many preparations to prevent pathogenic germs from entering the eyes. If eye drops cannot be kept sterile, bacteria and fungi can easily settle, which can get into the eye during application and cause infections. However, preservatives often cannot provide complete protection against germs and can also cause incompatibility reactions. With HYLO GEL® – as with all other eye drops in the HYLO® product family – preservatives are deliberately avoided. This is made possible by the unique COMOD® system, which keeps the liquid sterile and hermetically sealed. Thus, the eye drops have a shelf life of 6 months after opening, even without preservatives. The absence of preservatives pays off in two ways: HYLO® eye drops are particularly well tolerated. In addition, only preservative-free medical devices are suitable for postoperative care, as otherwise good wound healing would be delayed.
