Dosage
For initial use, pierce the aluminum foil at the tube opening with the thorn in the tube cap. Apply a 3–5 cm (or more if needed) strip of ointment to the affected area once to several times daily. The duration of treatment is usually up to 10 days for blunt traumas and 1–2 weeks for superficial phlebitis.

Application recommendation
Apply Hirudoid® Ointment to the affected skin area once to several times daily. The ointment can also be used for physical treatment methods such as phonophoresis. Important note: Hirudoid® Ointment must not be used on open wounds, mucous membranes, eyes, in purulent processes or skin infections. If symptoms persist or if the expected success is not achieved, medical advice should be sought as soon as possible. Use in children and adolescents is not recommended due to a lack of sufficient experience. Please note that ingredients such as methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, cetylstearyl alcohol and wool wax can cause allergic reactions or skin irritation.
