GAVISCON® Mint Chewable Tablets for Heartburn

Active ingredient: Alginate is extracted from the alga Laminaria hyperborea. Gaviscon is iodine-free.

Gaviscon Mint Chewable Tablets are used for the treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as heartburn, acid regurgitation and indigestion (in connection with reflux), e.g., after meals or during pregnancy or in patients with symptoms associated with reflux esophagitis. Heartburn can occur after meals (e.g., after consuming fatty or heavily spiced foods) or during pregnancy or in patients with symptoms associated with reflux esophagitis (an inflammation of the lower part of the esophagus, caused by reflux of stomach acid).

Application:

• Adults, including elderly patients and children from 12 years: When symptoms occur, take 2 to 4 tablets after meals and before bedtime, up to 4 times a day.
• Children under 12 years: Gaviscon Mint should only be given under medical supervision.

The ingredient alginate forms a protective film over the stomach contents, preventing the acidic food pulp from rising into the sensitive esophagus. This can relieve pain and other unpleasant symptoms such as stomach pressure, acid regurgitation, and fullness for up to four hours.

Heavy meals are often the cause of discomfort. The consumption of fatty, spicy or extremely sugary foods and carbonated drinks can also overload digestion. If our stomach is particularly full, the resulting pressure can also negatively affect the functionality of the sphincter, so that it can no longer withstand the reflux of food pulp. Nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine also promote the development of heartburn and acid regurgitation. By eating regular, balanced meals, eating slowly, and chewing thoroughly, symptoms can be avoided. In acute cases, Gaviscon Mint chewable tablets have proven effective – due to their fast action and good tolerability.

Gaviscon Mint Chewable Tablets ensure that symptoms subside quickly. The chewable tablets with fresh peppermint flavor are taken without water and are practical for on the go and when traveling. Symptoms such as stomach pressure, acid regurgitation, and burning pain behind the breastbone can even be avoided at night, as the preparation can also be used before bedtime.
