FRONTLINE COMBO® is a veterinary medicine for protecting dogs against fleas, ticks, and biting lice. The combination of fipronil and (S)-methoprene eliminates adult parasites while simultaneously inhibiting the development of immature flea stages.

Intended use

FRONTLINE COMBO® is used on dogs for flea infestations, either alone or in combination with tick and/or biting lice infestations.

The spot-on preparation is suitable for dogs from 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 kg. It can also be used on pregnant and lactating bitches.

Properties and mode of action

FRONTLINE COMBO® combines two active ingredients:

• Fipronil acts against fleas, ticks, and biting lice.

• (S)-methoprene acts as an insect growth regulator to inhibit the development of flea eggs, larvae, and pupae.

This targets both parasites on the dog and the development of new flea stages in the environment.

How quickly does FRONTLINE COMBO® work?

After application, fleas are killed within 24 hours, and ticks and biting lice are killed within 48 hours.

The active ingredient spreads across the dog's skin surface within approximately 1 to 2 days.

Why is controlling flea stages important?

Adult fleas on the animal make up only a small fraction of the total flea population. Flea eggs, larvae, and pupae can be found in carpets, bedding, and other areas of the home environment.

A female flea can lay numerous eggs daily, which fall from the coat into the environment. Therefore, when dealing with a flea infestation, it is important to address not only the adult fleas on the animal but also the immature developmental stages.

(S)-methoprene inhibits the development of these immature flea stages, thus supporting the sustainable control of flea infestations.

Application

FRONTLINE COMBO® is applied directly to the skin as a spot-on:

1. Remove a pipette from the packaging.

2. Hold the pipette upright and tap lightly so that the liquid collects in the main body.

3. Snap the tip off at the marked line.

4. Part the hair between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.

5. Place the pipette tip directly onto the skin and empty the contents completely.

Temporary clumping or a greasy appearance of the hair may occur at the application site. These changes generally disappear.

How often should it be applied?

FRONTLINE COMBO® protects against fleas and their immature developmental stages for up to 8 weeks. The effect against ticks lasts for up to 4 weeks.

The interval between two treatments should be at least 4 weeks.

For continuous protection, regular application according to the package leaflet is required.

Instructions for use and the environment

Intensive bathing should be avoided within 48 hours before or after treatment. FRONTLINE® products are water-resistant from 48 hours after application.

In the event of a flea infestation, all appropriate dogs and cats in the household should be treated accordingly to reduce the risk of re-infestation.

Additionally, the environment should be cleaned thoroughly. Regular vacuuming and washing of suitable textiles, blankets, and bedding at at least 60 °C can support control efforts.

Important information

FRONTLINE COMBO® Spot-on for dogs is available in different dosages based on the dog's body weight:

• S: Dogs over 2 to 10 kg

• M: Dogs over 10 to 20 kg

• L: Dogs over 20 to 40 kg

• XL: Dogs over 40 kg

Side effects and tolerance

Like all veterinary medicines, FRONTLINE COMBO® can cause side effects.

Temporary changes in the coat, such as matted or greasy hair, may occur at the application site.
