FRONTLINE COMBO® is a veterinary medicinal product for the protection of dogs against fleas, ticks, and biting lice. The combination of fipronil and (S)-methoprene combats adult parasites while simultaneously inhibiting the development of flea eggs, larvae, and pupae.

What is it intended for?

FRONTLINE COMBO® with 134 mg fipronil and 120.6 mg (S)-methoprene is intended for dogs with a body weight of over 10 to 20 kg.

The spot-on is used against flea infestations alone or in combination with tick and/or biting lice infestations.

It can be used on dogs from 8 weeks of age and of appropriate body weight, as well as on pregnant and lactating bitches.

Properties and effect

FRONTLINE COMBO® combines two active ingredients:

• Fipronil acts against fleas, ticks, and biting lice.

• (S)-methoprene, as an insect growth regulator, inhibits the development of flea eggs, larvae, and pupae.

Why is controlling immature flea stages important?

Adult fleas on the dog represent only a small part of the total flea population. Eggs, larvae, and pupae can be present in the domestic environment and lead to re-infestation.

(S)-methoprene interrupts the development of these immature flea stages and thus complements the effect of fipronil against adult parasites.

How quickly does FRONTLINE COMBO® work?

Fleas are killed within 24 hours, ticks and biting lice within 48 hours.

After application, the active ingredient spreads over the surface of the dog's skin within approximately 1 to 2 days.

Application

FRONTLINE COMBO® is applied directly to the skin as a spot-on:

1. Remove the pipette from the packaging and hold it upright.

2. Tap lightly so that the liquid collects in the main part.

2. Snap off the tip of the pipette at the designated mark.

3. Part the fur between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.

4. Place the tip of the pipette directly onto the skin and empty the entire contents.

At the application site, temporarily matted or greasy-appearing hair may occur. These changes usually disappear again.

How often should it be used?

FRONTLINE COMBO® protects against fleas and their immature developmental stages for up to 8 weeks. The effect against ticks lasts for up to 4 weeks.

The interval between two applications should be at least 4 weeks.

Notes on application and environment

Intensive bathing should be avoided within 48 hours before or after treatment. From 48 hours after application, FRONTLINE® products are water-resistant.

In the event of a flea infestation, other appropriate dogs and cats in the household should also be treated accordingly to reduce re-infestation.

In addition, the environment should be cleaned regularly. Thorough vacuuming as well as washing suitable textiles, blankets, and toys at at least 60 °C can support flea control.

Important information

FRONTLINE COMBO® Spot on Dog is available in different dosages depending on body weight:

• S: Dogs over 2 to 10 kg

• M: Dogs over 10 to 20 kg

• L: Dogs over 20 to 40 kg

• XL: Dogs over 40 kg

This version with 134 mg fipronil and 120.6 mg (S)-methoprene is intended for dogs over 10 to 20 kg.

Side effects and tolerance

Like all veterinary medicinal products, FRONTLINE COMBO® can cause side effects.

At the application site, temporary changes in the coat, such as matted or greasy hair, may occur.
