FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® is a veterinary medicine for protecting dogs against fleas, ticks and flying insects such as mosquitoes, sandflies and stable flies. The combination of fipronil and permethrin possesses both killing and repellent properties.

This variant with 270.4 mg fipronil and 2,019.2 mg permethrin is intended for dogs with a body weight of 20 to 40 kg.

What is it for?

FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® is used for the treatment and prevention of flea and/or tick infestations when a repellent effect against sandflies, stable flies and/or mosquitoes is also required.

The product also reduces the risk of infection with Leishmania infantum.

Properties and effect

FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® combines two active ingredients:

• Fipronil has a killing effect against fleas and ticks.

• Permethrin has a repellent and killing effect against ticks and flying insects, as well as a killing effect against fleas.

The most important properties:

• Protection against fleas and ticks

• Repellent effect against sandflies, mosquitoes and stable flies

• Works through contact with the parasites

Supports the protection of the home environment against flea infestation

• Reduces the risk of infection with Leishmania infantum

• Waterproof after the intended distribution time

• Particularly suitable for travel to areas with a high prevalence of flying insects

• Simple spot-on application

• Suitable for dogs from 8 weeks of age and at least 2 kg body weight

After application, the active ingredients spread across the superficial, lipid-rich layer of the skin within approximately 1 to 2 days and are stored in the sebaceous glands. From there, they are continuously distributed over the skin and coat.

Application

FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® is applied as a spot-on directly onto the skin:

1. Remove the pipette from the packaging and hold it upright.

2. Tap the tip briefly so that the liquid collects in the lower part.

3. Snap off the pipette tip at the marked line.

4. Part the fur in the neck area at two spots until the skin is visible.

5. Place the pipette tip directly onto the skin and distribute the contents evenly between the two spots.

6. Empty the pipette completely.

How often should it be applied?

For continuous protection, FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® should be applied regularly in accordance with the package leaflet.

If protection against fleas, ticks and flying insects is required, monthly application may be necessary.

Notes on application and environment

Intensive bathing should be avoided within 48 hours before or after treatment, as this may impair the distribution of the active ingredients.

Always use the pipette size appropriate for the dog's body weight.

In case of flea infestation, all suitable animals in the household should be treated accordingly. In addition, the environment should be thoroughly cleaned. Regular vacuuming as well as washing suitable textiles, blankets and toys at a minimum of 60 °C can support flea control.

Important notes

FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® is intended exclusively for dogs.

Do not use on cats. Due to the permethrin it contains, the product can be dangerous for cats.

Do not use on rabbits or other small animals.

FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® is available in five weight classes:

• 2–5 kg: 33.8 mg fipronil + 252.4 mg permethrin

• 5–10 kg: 67.6 mg fipronil + 504.8 mg permethrin

• 10–20 kg: 135.2 mg fipronil + 1,009.6 mg permethrin

• 20–40 kg: 270.4 mg fipronil + 2,019.2 mg permethrin

• 40–60 kg: 405.6 mg fipronil + 3,028.8 mg permethrin

This variant is intended for dogs from 20 to 40 kg.

• 2,019.2 mg permethrin

Other ingredients:

• 4.5 mg butylhydroxytoluene

• 1,574.8 mg N-methylpyrrolidone

• Medium-chain triglycerides

Side effects and tolerability

Like all veterinary medicines, FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® can cause side effects.

Because of the permethrin it contains, FRONTLINE TRI-ACT® must not be used on cats.
