elmex® Dental Gel
Product Details & Mandatory Information
For local fluoridation of dental enamel.
elmex® dental gel is a medicinal product for the local fluoridation of dental enamel. It can be applied specifically to the teeth at home using a toothbrush or in a dental practice.
The amine fluorides Olaflur and Dectaflur contained in the product are characterized by a high binding capacity to the dental enamel. Fluoride can be incorporated into the dental enamel and support remineralization. This increases the resistance of the dental enamel.
In addition, elmex® dental gel reduces the metabolism of bacteria involved in the formation of dental plaque. As a result, the dental gel acts to prevent caries and supports remineralization in the presence of existing enamel damage.

Use at home
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package insert or as instructed by your dentist, doctor, or pharmacist.
Once a week, apply approximately 1 cm of elmex® dental gel to your toothbrush and brush your teeth with it.
Rinse briefly after 2 to 3 minutes. The total application time, including brushing and contact time, must not exceed 5 minutes.
It is best to apply before going to bed.
For optimal effect, do not eat or drink for 15 to 30 minutes after application.
More frequent use should only occur as determined by your dentist.
For children, ensure that the dental gel is not swallowed during brushing. elmex® dental gel should only be used by children once they have mastered the ability to spit out the foam reliably.
Use in the dental practice
In dental practice, it is usually applied about twice a year. For patients with a high risk of caries, more frequent application may be necessary.
A sufficient contact time of the dental gel with the teeth of at least 2 to 4 minutes must be ensured. The total contact time must not exceed 5 minutes. Rinse afterwards.
elmex® dental gel can be applied with a cotton swab, a fingertip, or a rotating brush.
Application with a suitable gel carrier, such as a mini-plast splint or a tray applicator, is particularly effective.
Due to the risk of overdose, elmex® dental gel must not be used with a gel carrier in children under 8 years of age.
If you have used or swallowed a larger amount
If larger amounts of elmex® dental gel are accidentally swallowed, a doctor should be consulted.
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, dentist, or pharmacist.
