Echinacin Madaus®

For supportive therapy and prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections

Product Description

Echinacin Madaus® is a herbal remedy used for supportive therapy and prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections. The contained pressed juice from fresh, flowering purple coneflower herb (Echinacea purpurea) is traditionally used to strengthen the body's immune system.

Instructions for Use

Always take Echinacin Madaus® according to the instructions in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage for Adults and Adolescents aged 12 and over

For acute infections

• On the first day of treatment, take 2.5 ml initially as a loading dose.

• Thereafter, up to 1.25 ml up to 7 times daily, every 1–2 hours.

• From the second day of treatment: 2.5 ml 3 times daily.

For prevention (prophylaxis)

• 2.5 ml 3 times daily.

A measuring cup with markings for 1.25 ml, 2 ml and 2.5 ml is included in the package.

Children

Children under 1 year should not take Echinacin Madaus®. Due to insufficient data, use in children between 1 and 12 years is not recommended.

Method of Administration

For oral use. The liquid is taken with water or another beverage.

Duration of Use

Echinacin Madaus® should not be taken continuously for longer than 8 weeks. If symptoms worsen or persist for longer than 10 days, a doctor should be consulted.

Important Information

• Do not use for longer than 8 weeks without consulting a doctor.

• Contains alcohol.

• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Echinacin Madaus® can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Occasionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, itching or allergic reactions may occur. At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

Active ingredient

Pressed juice from fresh, flowering purple coneflower herb (Echinaceae purpureae herba).

100 g of liquid contains 80 g of pressed juice from fresh purple coneflower herb (ratio fresh plant : pressed juice = 1.7–2.5 : 1).
