Coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10, is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance with structural similarities to vitamins E and K. Chemically, it is a ubiquinone, whose side chain consists of ten isoprene units – hence the name "Q10." The name "ubiquinone" is derived from the Latin "ubique," meaning "everywhere," as CoQ10 is found in all body cells.

Coenzyme Q10 is one of the vitamin-like substances that the human body can produce itself.
