What is Cetirizin-ratiopharm and what is it used for?
Cetirizine dihydrochloride is the active ingredient in Cetirizin-ratiopharm.
Cetirizin-ratiopharm is an antiallergic medication.
Cetirizin-ratiopharm is indicated for adults and children aged 6 years and older for:
- Relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane).
- Relief of chronic urticaria (chronic idiopathic urticaria).
How to take Cetirizin-ratiopharm?

How and when should you take Cetirizin-ratiopharm?

The tablets should be taken whole with a glass of liquid.
The tablet can be divided into equal doses.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily as 1 tablet.
Children aged 6 to 12 years
The recommended dose is 5 mg twice daily as half a tablet twice daily.
Patients with renal impairment
Patients with moderate renal impairment are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.
If you suffer from severe kidney disease, talk to your doctor or pharmacist who can adjust your dose accordingly.
If your child suffers from severe kidney disease, talk to your doctor or pharmacist who can adjust the dose according to your child's needs.
If you have the impression that the effect of Cetirizin-ratiopharm is too weak or too strong, please contact your doctor.
Duration of use
The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of your symptoms and will be determined by your doctor.
If you have taken more Cetirizin-ratiopharm than you should
If you think you have taken an overdose of Cetirizin-ratiopharm, please inform your doctor.
Your doctor will then decide what measures, if any, should be taken.
After an overdose, the side effects described below may occur with increased intensity. Adverse effects such as confusion, diarrhoea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, malaise, pupillary dilation, itching, restlessness, sedation (calming), drowsiness, stupor, accelerated heartbeat, tremors and urinary retention have been reported.
If you forget to take Cetirizin-ratiopharm
Do not take a double dose if you have forgotten a previous dose.
If you stop taking Cetirizin-ratiopharm
Rarely, pruritus (severe itching) and/or urticaria (hives) may occur if you stop taking
Cetirizin-ratiopharm.

- The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride. 1 film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, highly dispersed anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (E 171), hypromellose 5cP (E 464), macrogol 400.
