Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi: Vaginal Tablets and Cream for Vaginal Thrush
With Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi, you can conveniently treat vaginal thrush yourself. The combination of vaginal tablets and cream relieves symptoms in the vagina and labia thanks to the active ingredient clotrimazole. The growth of fungi and certain types of bacteria is inhibited – resulting in effective relief from symptoms such as itching. After medical consultation, the remedy is also suitable for pregnant women.
How does a vaginal yeast infection develop?
A sore vaginal entrance, slight swelling of the labia, burning and itching, or white-granular discharge – all of these are symptoms that can occur due to a vaginal yeast infection. Yeasts (mostly Candida albicans) are the cause of vaginal thrush. They occur in small amounts in every woman with an intact immune system – this is even completely normal. However, if the immune system is weakened, for example by illnesses, or if the vaginal flora becomes imbalanced, the pathogens can multiply and promote a fungal infection. The causes for this are very diverse, but you can try to prevent a vaginal inflammation caused by vaginal yeast with these tips:
- Do not practice exaggerated intimate hygiene
- Wear breathable clothing and underwear, preferably made of cotton
- Boost the body's immune defense with a healthy diet and exercise
- Practice protected sexual intercourse
It can happen that the fungus is also transmitted to men through sexual intercourse. However, the pathogens cannot multiply there, as the glans of the penis is better ventilated. Nevertheless, the partner should also consider treatment in case of recurring fungal infections, as he can still be a carrier of the yeasts.
How is Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi applied?
An uncomplicated method to effectively treat a vaginal infection with vaginal thrush is the Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi-Therapy. The combination of vaginal tablets and cream quickly relieves symptoms and effectively combats the fungal pathogens. The active ingredient clotrimazole inhibits the growth of yeasts, a number of other fungi, and some bacteria that can also settle in the vagina in addition to the fungal infection.
The 3-day therapy should be applied as follows:
- One vaginal tablet should be inserted deep into the vagina each evening for three consecutive days. The applicator facilitates the process and ensures hygienic application. Detailed instructions can be found in the package leaflet.
- The cream should be applied thinly to the labia and adjacent areas in the intimate area one to three times daily for one to two weeks.
With Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi, symptoms usually improve significantly within the first four days. If you have a dry vagina, the vaginal tablet may not dissolve completely, and solid crumbs may be excreted. In that case, you should prefer treatment with the Canesten® Clotrimazole 0.5 g soft capsule.
Important notes on use
If you have had vaginal thrush more than four times in the past year or if the condition occurs for the first time, please consult your doctor. If you forget an evening application, it should be made up during the following morning, and the treatment should otherwise be continued as prescribed.
Do not carry out the treatment with Canesten® Gyn 3-Day Combi during menstruation. Please consult a doctor if the symptoms have not significantly improved within the prescribed therapy duration of 3 days (vaginal tablets) or 1 to 2 weeks (cream) after the start of treatment, or if the symptoms worsen during treatment.
The procedure should also be professionally clarified for the following symptoms:
- Fever (38 degrees Celsius and above)
- Abdominal pain
- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Nausea
- Foul-smelling discharge
- Vaginal bleeding
Simultaneous use of latex (for example, in the form of condoms or diaphragms) and vaginal tablets or cream can lead to a reduced effectiveness of contraception. However, this effect only occurs temporarily during treatment.
Which active ingredient is contained in Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi?
Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi contains the active ingredient clotrimazole (vaginal tablet: 200 milligrams; 1 gram cream: 10 milligrams). Clotrimazole attacks both fungal pathogens and some bacteria and inhibits their multiplication. This also relieves the symptoms. A special lactic acid additive in the vaginal tablets supports the natural acidic vaginal environment and thus strengthens the natural germ barrier. One pack of Canesten® Clotrimazole Gyn 3-Day Combi contains an aluminum blister with three vaginal tablets and a separate applicator, as well as an aluminum tube with 20 grams of cream.
