Description

Antiflat® chewable tablets contain the active ingredient simethicone and are used to treat excessive gas formation and gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract. Flatulence can be caused by unusual or gas-producing food, digestive problems or swallowed air. Especially in infants and young children, hurried drinking can promote the formation of intestinal gases.

In the intestine, gases often form a fine-bubble foam, which makes the natural escape of gases difficult. Simethicone dissolves this foam and allows the natural passage of intestinal gases. This can quickly relieve feelings of tension, bloating and flatulence.

The active ingredient is not absorbed by the body and is excreted unchanged.

Areas of application

Antiflat® chewable tablets are used for:

• Excessive gas formation and gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal area (meteorism)

• Flatulence

• Feeling of fullness

• Feeling of tension in the upper abdomen

• Increased gas formation after operations

• Roemheld syndrome

• Preparation for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area to reduce gas shadows in ultrasound and X-ray examinations

Suitable for adults, adolescents and children from 2 years of age.

Application

The chewable tablets should be thoroughly chewed before swallowing.

For the treatment of flatulence and bloating

Adults:

• 1–2 chewable tablets 3 times daily with or after meals.

Children:

• Half the adult dose.

For the preparation of diagnostic examinations

On the day before the examination:

• Take 2–3 chewable tablets after each meal.

On the day of the examination:

• Take 2–3 chewable tablets in the morning.

Duration of application

The duration of use depends on the course of the symptoms. If necessary, Antiflat® can also be used over a longer period.

Notes

• Chew the chewable tablets well before swallowing.

• If symptoms persist or recur, medical clarification should be sought.

• The chewable tablets are not suitable for children under 2 years of age.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Antiflat® can also have side effects, but not everyone experiences them.

Simethicone is considered well tolerated. In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions to individual components of the preparation may occur.
