Composition
1 g cold sore cream contains 50 mg Aciclovir.
Other ingredients: Propylene glycol, Cetostearyl alcohol.
Indications
Activir Cold Sore Cream is used for the relief of pain and itching from facial cold sores.
Dosage, Method and Duration of Application
Activir Cold Sore Cream should be applied 5 times daily at regular intervals to the affected skin areas.
The treatment duration is usually 4 days. If the condition worsens during treatment, or if the blisters have not crusted over or healed after a maximum of 10 days of treatment,
a doctor should be consulted. Treatment with Activir Cold Sore Cream should be started as early as possible
when the first signs such as itching, redness and a feeling of tightness appear. However, treatment can also be started at
later stages of the infection (nodules or blisters).
Side effects
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
Occasionally (less than 1 in 100, but more than 1 in 1,000 treated patients):
Temporary burning or stinging on the treated skin areas after application of Activir Cold Sore Cream.
Slight dryness or flaking of the skin, itching.
Rarely (less than 1 in 1,000, but more than 1 in 10,000 treated patients):
Skin redness, local skin inflammation (contact dermatitis).
Immune system disorders
Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 treated patients, including isolated cases):
Acute hypersensitivity reactions including angioneurotic edema (fluid accumulation in tissues) and urticaria
