Spagyric Essences

Spagyric Essences by PHYLAK

Gentle Plant Power in Drop Form
Spagyric essences by PHYLAK combine traditional plant knowledge with a special alchemically inspired manufacturing process.
They are used in many pharmacies as individual mixtures
e.g., to support in cases of stress, sleep disorders, susceptibility to infection, or digestive problems.
Below, we explain in an understandable way what spagyric essences are, how they are made, and what they can be used for.
What is spagyrics anyway?
The term spagyrics goes back to Paracelsus and is derived from Greek:
spao = to separate, ageiro = to reunite.
That's precisely the point:
Components of a substance are first separated and later reunited. The aim is to combine certain plant and mineral components of the plant in a processed form.
Spagyric remedies are classified as "Special Therapeutic Directions".
They lie somewhere between classical phytotherapy and homeopathy and are manufactured in Germany according to the regulations of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB)
What are spagyric essences according to PHYLAK?
The company PHYLAK Sachsen produces spagyric single plant essences according to the "spag. Zimpel" method. This is based on the spagyrics of Dr. Carl-Friedrich Zimpel, in which fermentation, distillation, and calcination play a central role.
The special thing about these essences:
They are made from whole plants (fresh or dried, depending on the drug)
Essential oils, aromatic substances, minerals and trace elements are extracted during the manufacturing process.
In the end, the essences contain organic and inorganic plant components in an alcoholic-aqueous solution.
The finished PHYLAK single essences are usually available as drops and can be combined into individual mixtures in pharmacies.
How are PHYLAK spagyric essences produced?

  1. 1. Fermentation
  2. The plant is crushed and mixed with water (and yeast).
  3. This mixture ferments for several days to weeks.
  4. Fermentation produces alcohol, among other things, and makes essential oils and aromatic substances more accessible.
  5. 2. Distillation
  6. The fermented plant mixture is distilled.
  7. This produces a distillate containing the volatile ingredients of the plant (e.g., essential oils, aromatic substances).
  8. This part forms the "finer" components of the essence.
  9. 3. Calcination (Ashing)
  10. The solid residue from the fermentation mixture is dried and ashed at high temperature.
  11. The soluble mineral salts and trace elements are then extracted from the ash.
  12. 4. Reunion
  13. The extracted mineral salts are then combined with the distillate.
  14. This creates a spagyric essence that contains both volatile plant components and minerals from the original plant. The end product is a spagyric essence – a special kind of herbal medicine, which is further processed and mixed in drop form.
What is special about these essences?
Adherents of spagyrics assume that this separation and reunification unlocks a special quality of the plant that goes beyond a simple tea or tincture extract. The essences are intended to work on multiple levels – physical, emotional, and spiritual.
From a scientific perspective, it is important to note:
Typical Areas of Application
The effect a spagyric mixture can have always depends on the selected plants. PHYLAK offers over 100 different single essences that can be combined depending on the goal.

Common issues in practice include, for example:

  • Immune system & susceptibility to infection
  • e.g., mixtures with plants traditionally used for cold symptoms or during the cold season.
  • Stress, inner restlessness, sleep
  • Combinations of calming and nerve-strengthening plant essences.
  • Gastrointestinal & Digestion
  • Goal: gentle support for functional complaints, bloating, nervous stomach, etc.
  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Mixtures traditionally used to accompany muscle and joint complaints.
  • Women's Health
  • e.g., menstrual cycle issues, menopause, emotional support during hormonal transitions.
Which mixture is appropriate is always decided individually
depending on symptoms, constitution, age, co-morbidities, and existing medication.
How are spagyric essences taken?
In pharmacies, spagyric mixtures are mostly available as
  • drops (in alcohol-water solution)
  • sometimes also as spray for spraying into the mouth

Typical application (general, not a fixed dosage recommendation):

  • several times daily
  • a few drops in some water
  • or as a mouth spray directly into the oral cavity
The exact dosage depends on the mixture, the area of application, and the patient, and should always be determined personally in the pharmacy or by the treating therapist.
Safety, Limitations, and Notes
Even though spagyric essences are usually well-tolerated, some basic rules apply:
  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use only after consultation with a doctor or experienced therapist.
  • Children
Dosage adjustment and benefit-risk assessment are important – please always seek advice beforehand.
  • Chronic Diseases & Long-term Medication
Spagyrics can be used as a supportive measure, but do not replace diagnostics or necessary standard therapies.
  • Alcohol Sensitivity
The essences contain alcohol as a carrier. For people who must strictly avoid alcohol, there are sometimes alternative dosage forms or dilution options – we provide individual advice here.

Summary:

Spagyric essences by PHYLAK are:
  • plant essences, produced according to a special spagyric process by Dr. Zimpel
  • produced in several steps (fermentation, distillation, calcination, reunion)
  • can be combined into individual mixtures in the pharmacy
  • a possibility for complementary support for many everyday ailments

They are understood as a supplement, not as a substitute for a medically necessary treatment.
