Hirudoid® Forte Ointment is an anti-inflammatory and decongestant ointment for the local treatment of blunt injuries, bruises, and superficial phlebitis.

Bruises, sprains, strains, or hematomas can be accompanied by pain, swelling, and restricted movement. Superficial phlebitis also often causes feelings of tension, tenderness, or redness in the affected skin areas.

Hirudoid® Forte Ointment contains the highly concentrated active ingredient mucopolysaccharide polysulphate and specifically supports the treatment of inflamed and swollen tissue areas. The ointment acts directly on the affected area and promotes the regression of bruises, swelling, and superficial microthrombi.

Additionally, Hirudoid® Forte Ointment promotes the regeneration of connective tissue and supports the body's natural healing processes. Due to the intensive concentration of active ingredients, healing can be accelerated and overall well-being improved.

Application

Apply a 3 to 5 cm long strip of ointment to the affected area once or several times daily and gently spread it. A larger amount can also be used if necessary.

For acute phlebitis or thrombosis, the ointment should not be massaged in, but applied as an ointment dressing.

The usual treatment duration is:

• up to 10 days for blunt injuries
• about 1 to 2 weeks for superficial phlebitis

The ointment is also suitable for physical treatment methods such as phonophoresis or iontophoresis.

Note

For external use only. Do not apply to open wounds, infected or inflamed skin areas, mucous membranes, or eyes.

Use in children and adolescents is not recommended due to a lack of experience.

If symptoms persist or do not improve, medical advice should be sought.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible.

Storage

Store in a dry place and not excessively warm. After opening, the ointment is stable for 1 year. Keep out of reach of children.

Ingredients

Active ingredient:
445 mg Mucopolysaccharide polysulphate.

Other ingredients:
Organo-Heparinoid Luitpold, purified water, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, medium-chain triglycerides, imidurea, self-emulsifying glycerol monostearate, bentonite, myristyl alcohol and rosemary oil.

Side Effects

Rarely, skin reactions such as redness, itching, or hypersensitivity reactions may occur. In sensitive skin, individual ingredients may cause skin irritation. If skin irritation or allergic symptoms occur, discontinue use.
