What is Ibumetin and what is it used for?

One Ibumetin forte 400 mg film-coated tablet contains 400 mg of ibuprofen. Ibuprofen belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These have pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects.

Ibumetin is used:

• for the relief of mild to moderate pain (e.g., headache, toothache, menstrual pain)
• for the relief of pain and fever associated with colds

If you do not feel better or feel worse after 3–4 days, contact your doctor.

How to take Ibumetin?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended dose

Adults and adolescents from 12 years (≥ 40 kg):

• Single dose: 1 tablet (400 mg ibuprofen)
• Max. daily dose: 3 tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen)

Children (6–12 years):

• 20–29 kg (6–9 years):
  • Single dose: ½ tablet (200 mg)
  • Max. daily dose: 1½ tablets (600 mg)
• 30–39 kg (10–12 years):
  • Single dose: ½ tablet (200 mg)
  • Max. daily dose: 2 tablets (800 mg)

Notes:

• Use in children under 12 years only after medical prescription
• Do not use under 6 years of age
• Tablet is divisible

Elderly persons (65 years and over):
No special dose adjustment required, but careful monitoring is recommended.

Impaired liver or kidney function:
Consult your doctor before taking.

Method of administration

For oral use.
Swallow whole with plenty of liquid (e.g., water) during or after a meal.
At least 6 hours should pass between two doses.

Duration of use

Only suitable for short-term treatment.
The lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration should be used.

• For fever: no longer than 3 days
• For pain: no longer than 4 days

If symptoms persist or worsen, contact a doctor.

Overdose

If you take too much, contact a doctor immediately.

Possible symptoms:

• Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea
• Tinnitus, headache
• Gastrointestinal bleeding (blood in stool or vomit)
• Dizziness, drowsiness, confusion

Rare: unconsciousness

Lactose content:
Contains 26.67 mg of lactose. If you have a known intolerance, consult your doctor.

Ingredients

• Ibuprofen (400 mg per tablet)

Other ingredients:

• Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide
• Tablet coating: hypromellose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171)

Dosage form

White, oblong film-coated tablets with a break notch on both sides.
Tablet can be divided into equal doses.
