What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease and develops due to the progressive wear and tear of articular cartilage. Over time, the protective cartilage layer thins, causing bone surfaces to rub against each other more intensely. This can lead to pain, stiffness, limited movement, and occasionally inflammation.

Osteoarthritis can affect any joint. The knees, hips, fingers, shoulders, and spine are particularly often affected.

How does Osteoarthritis develop?

The development of osteoarthritis is usually due to several factors. The most common causes include:

• Age-related wear and tear

• Obesity and increased joint stress

• Previous injuries or accidents
