Pancreatitis - Inflammation of the Pancreas "Support" Homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji

Dr. Banerji Protocols

Pancreatitis – Inflammation of the Pancreas

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. A distinction is made between acute pancreatitis, which appears suddenly, and chronic pancreatitis, where repeated or persistent inflammation can lead to permanent changes and loss of pancreatic function.

The pancreas produces important digestive enzymes, as well as hormones like insulin and glucagon, which regulate blood sugar levels.

Acute Pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis can vary in severity. While mild forms often heal completely, severe cases can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and other life-threatening complications.

Common causes include:

  • Gallstones

  • Alcohol consumption

  • Severely elevated triglycerides

  • Certain medications

  • Elevated calcium levels

  • Injuries or procedures involving the pancreas and bile ducts

  • Rarely infections or genetic causes

In some cases, the cause remains unclear initially.

Typical Symptoms of Acute Pancreatitis

Possible symptoms include:

  • Sudden onset of severe upper abdominal pain

  • Often with pain radiating like a belt to the back

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Abdominal tenderness

  • Bloated abdomen

  • Fever

  • Rapid pulse

  • Circulatory problems

In pancreatitis caused by gallstones, additional symptoms may include jaundice, dark urine, or light-colored stools.

Chronic Pancreatitis

In chronic pancreatitis, the pancreas undergoes increasing structural damage. This can impair the production of digestive enzymes and later also insulin.

Possible causes include:

  • Years of heavy alcohol consumption

  • Smoking

  • Genetic changes

  • Repeated acute pancreatitis episodes

  • Autoimmune pancreatitis

  • Certain metabolic disorders

  • Obstruction of the pancreatic duct

Symptoms of Chronic Pancreatitis

Typical symptoms can include:

  • Recurrent upper abdominal pain

  • Pain radiating to the back

  • Feeling of fullness and digestive complaints

  • Weight loss

  • Diarrhea

  • Fatty stools (steatorrhea)

  • Deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins

  • Development of diabetes mellitus

Pancreatic Insufficiency

Chronic damage can lead to exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, where insufficient digestive enzymes are produced.

Typical consequences include:

  • Fatty stools

  • Bloating

  • Diarrhea

  • Weight loss

  • Malnutrition

  • Vitamin deficiencies

In such cases, pancreatic enzymes with meals may be necessary.

Possible Complications

Depending on the form and severity, complications can include:

  • Fluid collections and pseudocysts

  • Pancreatic necrosis

  • Infections

  • Abscesses

  • Bile duct strictures

  • Thrombosis of adjacent vessels

  • Diabetes mellitus

  • Malnutrition

  • Organ failure in severe acute pancreatitis

Long-standing chronic pancreatitis is also associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.

Diagnosis

Depending on the situation, the following may be used for clarification:

  • Lipase in blood

  • Amylase, if applicable

  • Liver and gallbladder values

  • Inflammation markers

  • Triglycerides and calcium

  • Upper abdominal ultrasound

  • CT or MRI

  • MRCP or endoscopic ultrasound for specific questions

  • For suspected pancreatic insufficiency, for example, pancreatic elastase in stool

Treatment

Treatment depends on the cause and severity.

For acute pancreatitis, inpatient treatment may be necessary. This includes fluid administration, adequate pain management, adapted nutrition, and treatment of the underlying cause.

In gallstone pancreatitis, treatment of the bile ducts or gallbladder may be required.

In chronic pancreatitis, necessary measures may include:

  • Strict abstinence from alcohol

  • Smoking cessation

  • Pain therapy

  • Pancreatic enzymes

  • Diabetes treatment

  • Adequate nutrition and, if necessary, vitamin supplementation

  • Endoscopic or surgical treatment of certain complications

Homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji

In homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji, specific homeopathic remedies and potencies are used for various diseases and digestive complaints, following the Banerji protocols.

A reliable treatment of acute or chronic pancreatitis, elimination of bile duct obstruction, or prevention of severe complications using homeopathic remedies is not scientifically proven. Therefore, necessary gastroenterological or inpatient treatment must not be replaced or delayed.

Important Note

Suddenly appearing severe upper abdominal pain, especially radiating to the back, persistent vomiting, fever, jaundice, or circulatory problems must be medically investigated immediately.

Severe acute pancreatitis can be life-threatening and requires rapid medical treatment.
