Gastritis and Ulcer – Inflammation of the Gastric Mucosa and Stomach/Duodenal Ulcer "Support" Homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji

Dr. Banerji Protocols

Gastritis and Ulcer – Inflammation of the stomach lining and gastric/duodenal ulcer

Gastritis is an inflammation or damage to the stomach lining. It can occur acutely or be chronic.

An ulcer is a deeper defect in the mucous membrane. A distinction is made, in particular, between a gastric ulcer (ulcus ventriculi) and a duodenal ulcer (ulcus duodeni).

What are common causes?

The most important causes include:

  • Infection with Helicobacter pylori

  • Painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs from the NSAID group, such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, or naproxen

  • Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA)

  • Alcohol and smoking as contributing factors

  • Severe physical stress or severe illnesses

  • Autoimmune gastritis

  • Reflux of bile into the stomach

  • Rarely, other diseases

Helicobacter pylori

The bacterium Helicobacter pylori is a major cause of chronic gastritis as well as gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Detection can be done, for example, by:

  • Breath test

  • Stool antigen test

  • Gastroscopy with tissue sample

In case of confirmed infection, eradication therapy with suitable antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor is usually carried out.

What symptoms can occur?

Possible symptoms include:

  • Pain or burning in the upper abdomen

  • Feeling of pressure and fullness

  • Nausea

  • Belching

  • Loss of appetite

  • Early satiety

  • Partial vomiting

However, gastritis or an ulcer can also exist without obvious symptoms.

Gastric and duodenal ulcer

In an ulcer, the damage extends deeper into the mucous membrane. This can injure blood vessels.

Possible complications include:

  • Gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Anemia due to chronic blood loss

  • Perforation of the stomach or intestinal wall

  • Stenosis in the area of the gastric outlet

A perforation is an acute medical emergency.

Diagnosis

In case of persistent or unusual symptoms, a gastroscopy may be necessary. During this procedure, the stomach and duodenum can be directly assessed, and tissue samples can be taken.

Especially with a gastric ulcer, a histological examination can be important to rule out malignant changes.

Treatment

The treatment depends on the cause.

Possible measures include:

  • Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to reduce stomach acid

  • Treatment of a Helicobacter pylori infection

  • Review or adjustment of mucosal-damaging medications

  • Smoking cessation

  • Restriction of alcohol

  • Avoidance of individually intolerable foods

NSAIDs should not be taken uncritically or continuously without medical supervision if there is an existing ulcer risk.

Chronic Gastritis

For chronic gastritis, the cause should be determined. Besides Helicobacter pylori, there is, for example, autoimmune gastritis, which can lead to a long-term vitamin B12 deficiency.

Accordingly, laboratory and follow-up examinations may be necessary.

Homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji

In homeopathy according to Dr. Banerji, established homeopathic remedies and potencies are used according to the Banerji protocols for various diseases and complaints of the gastrointestinal tract.

Reliable eradication of Helicobacter pylori, healing of a complicated ulcer, or prevention of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation by homeopathic remedies is not scientifically proven. Therefore, necessary gastroenterological and medical treatment should not be replaced or delayed.

Important note

Vomiting blood, coffee-ground-like vomit, black tarry stools, circulatory problems, or sudden onset of very severe abdominal pain can indicate bleeding or perforation and must be immediately medically clarified.

Persistent upper abdominal discomfort with unexplained weight loss, anemia, repeated vomiting, or difficulty swallowing should also be medically examined.
