Intended use

Acimed® capsules are a food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of acute and recurrent urinary tract infections.

The capsules contain L-methionine, a sulfur-containing essential amino acid. When taken in the appropriate dosage, L-methionine can be used to acidify the urine.

Targeted urine acidification can influence the urinary environment. Acimed® is therefore intended for the dietary management of acute and recurrent urinary tract infections.

Properties and L-methionine

L-methionine is a sulfur-containing essential amino acid. Essential amino acids cannot be produced by the human body in sufficient quantities and must therefore be obtained through the diet.

Each Acimed® capsule contains 500 mg of L-methionine.

When taken in an appropriate dosage, L-methionine can be used to acidify the urine. Altering the urinary environment is part of the dietary management of acute and recurrent urinary tract infections.

Acimed® capsules are:

• Intended for the dietary management of acute urinary tract infections

• Intended for the dietary management of recurrent urinary tract infections

• With 500 mg of L-methionine per capsule

• Lactose-free

• Gluten-free

Recommended intake

Take 1 capsule 3 times daily, unchewed, with some liquid before meals.

The stated recommended daily intake should not be exceeded.

With the recommended intake of 3 capsules daily, a total of 1,500 mg of L-methionine is consumed.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place at 6–25 °C and protected from light.

To protect from light, the product should be kept in the outer carton.

Keep out of reach of children.

Side effects and tolerability
