Area of Use

The Nicorette® TX patch 25 mg helps adult smokers quit. It was specially designed for smokers who smoke more than 20 cigarettes daily and can help reduce cravings for cigarettes and withdrawal symptoms during cessation.

Long-term success in smoking cessation largely depends on the first few weeks after quitting. In this critical phase, the Nicorette® TX patch 25 mg can help make quitting cigarettes easier.

How it Works

The Nicorette® TX patch is applied once daily and continuously releases nicotine through the skin for approximately 16 hours. This ensures a relatively stable nicotine level, which can alleviate withdrawal symptoms and reduce the craving for a cigarette.

The patch is applied in the morning and removed before going to bed. Since no nicotine is released during nighttime sleep, the application follows the natural sleep-wake cycle.

Due to the steady nicotine release, the patch is particularly suitable for smokers with regular smoking habits.

Application and Dosage

Smoking cessation follows the proven 3-step plan with a gradual reduction of the nicotine dose.

For smokers who smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day

• Phase 1: Nicorette® TX patch 25 mg/16 h for 8 weeks

• Phase 2: Nicorette® TX patch 15 mg/16 h for 2 weeks

• Phase 3: Nicorette® TX patch 10 mg/16 h for 2 weeks

For smokers with a maximum of 20 cigarettes per day

• Phase 1: Nicorette® TX patch 15 mg/16 h for 8 weeks

• Phase 2: Nicorette® TX patch 10 mg/16 h for 4 weeks

Most users achieve their cessation goal within approximately three months.

Instructions for Use

Apply a patch in the morning to a clean, dry, oil-free, and hairless area of the upper body, upper arm, or hip. Press the patch firmly to ensure it adheres securely.

Remove the patch in the evening before going to bed. For the next application, a different skin area should be chosen to avoid skin irritation.

Smoking should be avoided during use. Generally, the patch can remain on the skin while showering. However, it should be temporarily removed before swimming or using a sauna.

Side Effects

Like any medicine, the Nicorette® TX patch can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them.

The most common side effects include skin reactions at the application site such as redness, itching, burning, or skin irritation. Headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, palpitations, nausea, or gastrointestinal problems may also occur.

Some complaints can also be caused by nicotine withdrawal itself and are not necessarily attributable to the use of the patch.
