ratioSoft plus Dexpanthenol Nasal Spray contains xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexpanthenol. Xylometazoline causes the nasal mucous membrane to decongest. Dexpanthenol supports the healing of damaged skin and mucous membranes and contributes to the protection of the nasal mucous membrane.

What is ratioSoft plus Dexpanthenol Nasal Spray for?

The nasal spray is used:

• to decongest the nasal mucous membrane in cases of rhinitis

• for supportive treatment of skin and mucous membrane damage (lesions)

• in cases of paroxysmal runny nose (rhinitis vasomotorica)

• for obstructed nasal breathing after surgical procedures on the nose

The preparation is intended for children aged 2 to 6 years and may only be given to children in this age group on medical prescription.

If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 7 days, a doctor should be consulted.

Application and Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, children between 2 and 6 years of age receive 1 spray into each nostril up to a maximum of 3 times a day as needed.

Gently clean the nose before use. Insert the spray opening into the nostril and inhale calmly through the nose while spraying.

Before first use and after a break in use of more than 7 days, press the pump several times until a uniform spray mist emerges.

For hygienic reasons, a spray bottle should only be used by one person.

Duration of use

ratioSoft plus Dexpanthenol Nasal Spray should not be used for longer than 7 days, unless the doctor explicitly orders a longer period of use.

Re-use should only take place after a break of several days. For the duration of use in children, a doctor should always be consulted.

Long-term or excessive use of decongestant nasal sprays can lead to chronic swelling and ultimately to damage of the nasal mucous membrane.

Important notes

Patients with increased intraocular pressure, especially narrow-angle glaucoma, should consult a doctor before use.

If a larger amount than intended has been used or the medicine has been accidentally ingested, symptoms such as nausea, fever, sweating, changes in pupils, cardiovascular disorders, blood pressure changes, breathing difficulties, cramps, drowsiness or consciousness disorders may occur.

If an overdose is suspected, a doctor must be contacted immediately.

If an application has been forgotten, the double dose must not be used the next time. The treatment is continued according to the dosage instructions.

Active ingredients and other ingredients

One spray, corresponding to 0.1 ml solution, contains:

• 0.05 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride

• 5.0 mg dexpanthenol

1 ml solution contains:

• 0.5 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride

• 50 mg dexpanthenol

Other ingredients: potassium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, water for injections.

Side effects and tolerability

Like all medicines, ratioSoft plus Dexpanthenol Nasal Spray can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Especially with prolonged or too frequent use, irritation, dryness or increased swelling of the nasal mucous membrane can occur.
