Physiodose Isotonisch is a sterile, isotonic, non-injectable saline solution with 0.9% sodium chloride. It contains no preservatives and is suitable for infants, children, and adults.

The sterile single-dose ampoules make application hygienic, simple, and practical – both at home and on the go.

What is Physiodose Isotonisch?

Physiodose Isotonisch is a sterile physiological saline solution with a sodium chloride concentration of 0.9%.

As an isotonic solution, it has a salt concentration adapted to the physiological conditions of the body. This makes it particularly suitable for gentle cleaning of sensitive areas such as the nose and eyes.

In addition, the solution can be used for cleaning the external ear canal, for rinsing wounds, and, according to the respective instructions for use, for inhalation in aerosol therapy.

Physiodose Isotonisch is not intended for injection.

Areas of application

Physiodose Isotonisch is recommended for infants, children, and adults:

• for nasal hygiene

• for instillation or irrigation in case of dry or congested nose

• for eye hygiene

• for instilling, rinsing, or bathing the eyes

• for ear irrigation

• for removing soluble earwax deposits

• for wound irrigation

• for inhalation in aerosol therapy

For daily nasal hygiene

Physiodose Isotonisch can be used for daily cleaning and moisturizing of the nose.

The solution is suitable for instillation or irrigation in case of dry or congested nose. Nasal secretions and deposits can be loosened and removed.

For nasal and eye hygiene, Physiodose can be used 1 to 6 times daily as needed.

Application for nasal hygiene

Tilt the head back.

Carefully insert the tip of the single-dose ampoule into the nostril and gently squeeze the ampoule.

Repeat the process on the other nostril.

Then tilt the head forward again so that dissolved secretions can drain. Carefully wipe away excess fluid.

After application, the nose should not be blown forcefully for about 10 minutes.

For infants, instill the solution with only light pressure to reduce the risk of spreading towards the middle ear.

For eye hygiene

Physiodose Isotonisch is suitable for instilling, rinsing, or bathing the eyes.

Place a few drops of the solution into each eye.

Ensure that the tip of the single-dose ampoule does not come into contact with the eye surface.

Then remove excess fluid with a sterile compress.

If eye drops are used simultaneously, a 15-minute interval should be observed before their instillation.

For ear hygiene

Physiodose Isotonisch can be used to rinse the external ear canal and to remove soluble earwax deposits.

The external ear canal is carefully rinsed with the saline solution.

One single dose can be used for both ears.

Then remove excess fluid with a compress.

In case of earache, a known perforation of the eardrum, or other ear conditions, medical advice should be sought before ear irrigation.

For wound irrigation

Physiodose Isotonisch can be used for gentle irrigation of wounds.

Rinse the wound with a complete single dose.

The tip of the ampoule should not come into direct contact with the wound.

Only remove excess fluid from healthy skin.

For inhalation in aerosol therapy

Physiodose Isotonisch can be used for inhalation as part of aerosol therapy.

If the saline solution is used together with another product for inhalation, the instructions for use of the respective inhalation product must be observed.

If Physiodose Isotonisch is used alone, the instructions of the aerosol or inhalation device used must be observed.

For infants and children

The isotonic saline solution is also suitable for daily nasal hygiene in infants and children.

Especially in infants, a stuffy nose can be bothersome. By carefully instilling the saline solution, secretions can be loosened and nasal cleaning can be facilitated.

For infants, the ampoule should only be gently squeezed.

Dosage and application

For nasal and eye hygiene, Physiodose Isotonisch can be used 1 to 6 times daily as needed.

For application to ears and wounds, as well as for aerosol therapy, the respective instructions for use must be observed.

The required amount depends on the specific area of application.

Important notes

Physiodose Isotonisch is intended exclusively for external use or for the intended inhalation.

Do not use for injection.

The tip of the ampoule should not come into contact with the eye, wound, or other surfaces during use.

For infants, instill the solution for nasal hygiene with only light pressure.

If other eye preparations are used, observe a time interval of 15 minutes.

For aerosol therapy, observe the instructions for use of the inhalation device or the additional inhalation product used.

Side effects and tolerability

Physiodose Isotonisch is intended for gentle cleaning of sensitive areas due to its physiological salt concentration.

No typical side effects are expected with proper use. In sensitive or already heavily irritated mucous membranes, a slight irritating sensation may temporarily occur immediately after application.

In case of unusual or persistent discomfort, discontinue use and seek medical or pharmaceutical advice.
