For decongestion of the nasal mucosa in case of a cold

Otrivin® 0.1% Nasal Spray contains xylometazoline and has a decongestant effect on the nasal mucosa. It enables freer nasal breathing within a few minutes, with the effect lasting up to 12 hours. The formulation is free of preservatives.

Areas of Application

For various forms of colds in children aged 10 years and older, adolescents, and adults. In case of paranasal sinus involvement, the nasal spray supports the drainage of secretions. In case of middle ear inflammation, it can contribute to the decongestion of the mucous membrane in the nasopharyngeal area. It can also be used to facilitate rhinoscopy.

Recommended Use

Children aged 10 years and older, adolescents, and adults: As needed, 1-2 sprays into each nostril 1 to a maximum of 3 times daily.

At least 8 hours should pass between two applications. For children up to 14 years of age, use should be supervised by parents or adults.

Before use, blow your nose thoroughly. Inhale slightly through the nose while spraying.

Duration of Use

Do not use for more than 7 days, unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor. After a one-week treatment, a break of several days must be taken.

If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 1 week, a doctor should be consulted.

Active Ingredients / Composition

1 ml solution contains:

• 1 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride

1 spray corresponds to 0.07 ml solution.

Other ingredients: Sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, sodium edetate dihydrate and purified water.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Otrivin® 0.1% Nasal Spray can have side effects. Information on possible side effects and their frequency can be found in the current package leaflet.

Important Information

Do not use in children under 10 years of age.

Do not use for more than 7 days without medical advice. Prolonged or excessive use of decongestant nasal sprays can lead to renewed or chronic swelling of the nasal mucosa.

For hygienic reasons, each metered spray should only be used by one person.
