Antibiophilus oral powder is a medicinal product containing viable lactic acid bacteria. It is used to treat diarrhea of various causes and helps restore the natural balance of the intestinal flora.

The powder is suitable for adults, adolescents, children, toddlers, infants, newborns, and premature babies with a birth weight of 1000 g or more.

What is Antibiophilus and what is it used for?

The bacteria naturally living in the human intestine form what is known as the intestinal flora. A balanced intestinal flora is of great importance for the normal functioning of intestinal activity and digestion.

The intestinal flora consists of various types of bacteria that live in a balanced equilibrium with each other. This natural balance can be disturbed by unaccustomed or incorrect diet, infections, antibiotic treatment, or radiation therapy. As a result, diarrhea, among other things, can occur.

An important group of microorganisms naturally occurring in the human intestine are lactic acid bacteria, known as lactobacilli.

Antibiophilus contains a large number of viable lactic acid bacteria of the strain Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus (LCR 35). By taking Antibiophilus, a damaged or impaired intestinal flora can be supported in regaining its natural balance.

Areas of Application

Antibiophilus powder is used for the treatment of diarrhea of various causes.

These include in particular:

• Diarrhea of various causes

• Diarrhea after antibiotic treatment

• Diarrhea after radiation therapy

• Diarrhea associated with a disturbed intestinal flora

• Acute diarrhea

• Prolonged or chronic diarrhea

If you do not feel better or even worse after 2 days, you should consult a doctor.

In case of diarrhea with blood in the stool or a significant increase in temperature, medical clarification is also required.

How does Antibiophilus work?

Antibiophilus contains viable strains of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus (LCR 35).

These lactic acid bacteria are among the microorganisms that naturally occur in the human intestine. They support the natural intestinal flora and help restore a disturbed balance of intestinal bacteria.

Such a disturbance of the intestinal flora can be caused, for example, by infections, changes in diet, antibiotics, or radiation therapy.

By supplying viable lactic acid bacteria, the natural intestinal flora is supported, thus promoting a normalization of the microbial balance in the intestine.

Dosage and Administration

Antibiophilus powder should always be taken exactly according to the package insert or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

If you are unsure about the dosage or administration, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage for Adults

1 sachet once or twice daily.

In severe cases, the daily dose can be increased to up to 4 sachets.

Dosage for Adolescents, Children, and Toddlers

1 sachet once daily.

In severe cases, the daily dose can be increased to up to 2 sachets.

For toddlers, the daily dose can be given throughout the day.

For toddlers under 2 years of age, the application should be combined with an adequate intake of fluids and minerals as part of rehydration therapy.

Even for children aged 2 years and older, treatment with Antibiophilus does not replace necessary rehydration therapy.

Dosage for Infants, Newborns, and Premature Babies over 2000 g Birth Weight

1 sachet daily, divided into at least 2 doses.

Dosage for Infants, Newborns, and Premature Babies from 1000 to 2000 g Birth Weight

½ sachet daily, divided into at least 2 doses.

Especially for infants, newborns, and premature babies, the application should be carried out according to the instructions in the package insert or medical recommendation.

Duration of Application

In general, a treatment duration of about 10 to 14 days is sufficient.

For effective improvement of symptoms of chronic diseases, application for a period of up to 3 months is possible.

If symptoms do not improve or worsen despite application, medical advice should be sought.

Application during Antibiotic Therapy

Antibiophilus can be used especially for diarrhea that occurs during or after antibiotic treatment.

Since antibiotics can reduce the effect of the viable lactic acid bacteria contained in Antibiophilus, an interval of about 2 hours should be maintained between taking the antibiotic and Antibiophilus.

Contraindications

Antibiophilus must not be taken if there is an allergy to Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus or to any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product.

Interactions

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or intend to take or use any other medicines.

Since the effect of Antibiophilus can be reduced by antibiotics, a break of about 2 hours should be maintained between the two administrations.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The lactic acid bacteria contained in Antibiophilus are natural inhabitants of the human intestine.

Antibiophilus can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

If there is uncertainty regarding use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, medical or pharmaceutical advice can be sought.

Important Information for Diarrhea

In case of diarrhea, adequate intake of fluids and minerals or electrolytes should be ensured.

This is particularly important for infants, toddlers, older people, and weakened individuals.

For toddlers under 2 years of age, the use of Antibiophilus must be combined with adequate rehydration therapy.

Even for children aged 2 years and older, treatment with Antibiophilus does not replace a necessary adequate intake of fluids and minerals.

In case of severe or prolonged diarrhea, blood in the stool, a significant increase in temperature, or a noticeable deterioration of the general condition, medical advice should be sought.

Side Effects

No side effects are known for Antibiophilus powder.

Should unusual symptoms or signs of a hypersensitivity reaction nevertheless occur during use, medical or pharmaceutical advice should be sought.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus (LCR 35).

1 sachet with 1.5 g of powder contains viable strains of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus (LCR 35) with a germ count of at least 150 million.

Other ingredients: Potato starch, lactose monohydrate, LCR 35 nutrient medium, maltodextrin.
