Kreosotum is a homeopathic remedy derived from the tar oil of the creosote bush (Liquidambar styraciflua). This tree is native to North America and is primarily found in moist areas there. Kreosotum is made from the distilled resin of the tree and is known for its intense, characteristic odor.

Historically, Kreosotum was traditionally used in the wood preservation industry due to its antiseptic properties. In homeopathy, however, it is known for its use in supporting the body with various ailments. Interestingly, Kreosotum was also used in 19th-century medicine, particularly for the treatment of tuberculosis.
