Vitamin K – Important for Bones and Blood Clotting
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that occurs mainly in two natural forms:
-
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone): Found particularly in green leafy vegetables.
-
Vitamin K2 (menaquinones): Includes various compounds that are produced, among others, by microorganisms.
Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal blood clotting.
Vitamin D3 – For Bones, Muscles, and the Immune System
Vitamin D3 plays an important role in calcium and phosphate metabolism. It supports the mineralization of bones and contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.
Furthermore, vitamin D supports normal muscle function and plays a role in cell division.
Why Combine Vitamins K and D?
Vitamin D and vitamin K perform different, complementary tasks in bone metabolism.
Vitamin D supports calcium absorption, while vitamin K is involved in the activation of certain proteins that are important for bone metabolism.
Taking them together is not strictly necessary, as both vitamins can also be taken and utilized independently.
Because vitamins K and D are fat-soluble, it is recommended to take them with a meal that contains some fat.
