Homeopathy is an alternative medical treatment method based on the ideas published from 1796 onwards by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann. According to Hahnemann, illness is a particular state of the organism that the healer must identify and eliminate based on its symptoms.

Its eponymous and most important basic assumption is the principle of similitude formulated by Hahnemann: "Like cures like."
