Hirudoid® Gel is an anti-inflammatory gel for the local treatment of blunt injuries, bruises and superficial phlebitis. The gel supports the regression of swelling and superficial blood clots.

Blunt injuries such as contusions, sprains, crushes or strains are often accompanied by pain, swelling and bruising. Superficial phlebitis can also cause unpleasant symptoms such as feelings of tension, redness or swelling.

Hirudoid® Gel contains the proven active ingredient mucopolysaccharide polysulphate and acts directly on the affected area. The gel supports the regression of bruises, swelling and superficial microthrombi and simultaneously promotes the regeneration of connective tissue.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, Hirudoid® Gel can specifically relieve symptoms and support healing. The cooling gel is quickly absorbed and is suitable for use on blunt injuries with or without bruising.

Application

Apply an approx. 3 to 5 cm long strip of gel to the affected area once to several times a day and spread gently. A larger amount can also be used if necessary.

The duration of treatment is usually:

• up to 10 days for blunt injuries
• approx. 1 to 2 weeks for superficial phlebitis

The gel can also be used as a supportive measure in physical therapy procedures such as phonophoresis or iontophoresis.

Note

Do not apply to open wounds, inflamed or infected skin, mucous membranes or eyes.

The product must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

There is insufficient experience for children and adolescents.

If symptoms persist or worsen, medical advice should be sought.

Storage

Store dry and not excessively warm. The tube is stable for 1 year after opening. Keep out of reach of children.

Ingredients

Active ingredient:
300 mg mucopolysaccharide polysulphate.

Other ingredients:
Organo-heparinoid Luitpold, purified water, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol, carbomer and isopropanol.

Side effects

Skin reactions such as redness, itching or hypersensitivity reactions may occur rarely. Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation. If skin irritation or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use.
