Ascorbisal® tablets – Pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing with vitamin C
Ascorbisal® contains the active ingredients acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The combination has pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects. At the same time, the vitamin C it contains helps to meet the increased demand for vitamin C during colds.
Ascorbisal® is a medicine for the treatment of mild to moderate pain as well as for the relief of pain and the reduction of fever during colds and flu-like infections.
The preparation is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. Typical areas of application include headaches, toothaches, and menstrual pain, as well as pain and fever associated with colds.
Important: Pain in the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal pain) is not among the areas of application for Ascorbisal®.
Acts as a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, and fever reducer
Thanks to the proven active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), Ascorbisal® tablets relieve pain, have an anti-inflammatory effect, and help lower elevated body temperature during febrile illnesses.
In addition, the tablets contain ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which helps to meet the increased demand for vitamin C during a cold or a flu-like infection.
The combination of both active ingredients makes Ascorbisal® a medicine for the symptomatic treatment of pain and fever, particularly in connection with colds.
Brief information – Ascorbisal® tablets
The acetylsalicylic acid contained in Ascorbisal® belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are involved in the production of prostaglandins. These endogenous messenger substances play an important role in the development of pain, inflammation, and fever.
By inhibiting prostaglandin production, acetylsalicylic acid unfolds its pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects.
The additional ascorbic acid (vitamin C) complements the composition and helps to meet the increased vitamin C requirement during colds.
In addition to its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, acetylsalicylic acid also influences the function of blood platelets (thrombocytes). It inhibits their aggregation and thus an important step in blood clotting.
This anti-platelet effect is used medically in certain cardiovascular diseases at appropriately low dosages. Studies show that acetylsalicylic acid can reduce the risk of further thrombotic events, such as a heart attack, in selected patients with existing cardiovascular diseases.
However, Ascorbisal® is not intended for the independent prevention of heart attacks or other cardiovascular diseases.
