The soft wipes are soaked in a cleansing solution containing black tea extract and cocoyl wheat amino acids, among other ingredients. They allow for gentle cleansing and care of the eye area and help remove dirt, secretions, discharge, and foreign bodies.

The wipes are sterile and individually packaged in sachets. This makes them particularly suitable for hygienic use at home and on the go. No rinsing is required after use, as the wipes are non-greasy.

Areas of Application

Similasan Eyelid Cleansing Wipes are intended for local daily cleansing and care of the eye area, including eyelids and eyelashes, in adults and children with sensitive skin, sensitive eyelids, and eyes.

They are particularly suitable for:

• allergic eyes to remove pollen, dust, and other foreign bodies
• inflamed eyes to remove deposits, secretions, and discharge, for example in cases of blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis
• sensitive eyes for makeup removal and general eyelid margin care
• dry eyes for eyelid margin care, for example in cases of meibomian gland dysfunction
• hordeolum (stye) and chalazion for hygienic cleansing of the eye area
• dirt and secretions or discharge associated with allergies, inflammation, infections, or eye surgery
• before and after ophthalmic treatments

Similasan Eyelid Cleansing Wipes are also suitable for use during the pre- or postoperative phase of refractive laser eye surgery, cataract surgery, and therapeutic eye injections.

Application

Wash and clean your hands thoroughly before each use. Then open the sachet and remove the sterile wipe.

Apply the wipe to the eyelid area and gently wipe the eye area. This gently removes dirt, secretions, discharge, and foreign bodies from the eyelids and eyelashes.

For sticky eyes, the sterile eye wipe can be placed in its unopened packaging in lukewarm water of about 40 °C for a few minutes. Then clean your hands and wrap the lukewarm wipe around a finger. Gently clean the sticky eye from the outside of the eye towards the nose.

Use a separate sterile eye wipe for each eye.

For particularly stubborn secretions or a blocked tear duct, the closed sachet can be warmed in lukewarm water at about 40 °C for a few minutes. The warm wipe can then be used as a compress to gently massage the area.

For irritated, inflamed, or particularly sensitive eyes, a cooling application can be pleasant. For this, the unopened sachet can be stored in the refrigerator for a few hours. Then remove the wipe and place it on the closed eye as a cold compress for a few minutes.

The eye area does not need to be rinsed after use.

Effect and Properties

Black tea extract is traditionally used to care for irritated eye areas. Black tea contains tannins, which are known for their astringent and soothing properties. A sterile eye compress with black tea extract offers the advantage of hygienic application intended for the sensitive eye area.

The use of ordinary tea bags directly on the eye is not recommended, as they may contain flavorings or other additives not intended for contact with the sensitive eye area.

For irritated and sensitive eyes, a cooling compress can also be found pleasant. Eye drops with hyaluronic acid or suitable eye drops can also be used to care for sensitive and dry eyes. Hands should be thoroughly washed before touching the eyes. Regular relaxation breaks can be beneficial, especially for strained eyes.

Ingredients

Soft wipes, soaked in a solution of:

Water, propylene glycol, cocoyl wheat amino acids, glycerin, sodium chloride, Camellia sinensis (tea) leaf extract, sodium citrate, citric acid.

The formulation contains no preservatives, no perfume, and no parabens.

Side Effects

When used as directed, no typical side effects are indicated. However, in cases of hypersensitivity or intolerance to any of the ingredients, local irritation or hypersensitivity reactions may occur. In this case, use should be discontinued.

If eye symptoms persist, are severe, or worsen, or if there is pain, pronounced redness, swelling, purulent discharge, or changes in vision, an ophthalmological examination should be sought.

Notes

For use only on the eyelids, eyelashes, and outer eye area as intended.

Clean hands thoroughly before use.

A separate sterile wipe should be used for each eye to prevent the transfer of contaminants or germs from one eye to the other.

The wipes are for single use only.

When used as a warm compress, only warm the unopened sachet to about 40 °C. Before use, ensure the wipe has a comfortable temperature.

For a cooling application, the unopened sachet can be stored in the refrigerator for a few hours.

No rinsing is required after use.
