Fenistil® sugar-coated tablets are a medicine for the relief of various allergic symptoms. They work from the inside and can, in particular, alleviate itching, redness, and swelling, as well as symptoms of hay fever.

The sugar-coated tablets are suitable for adolescents aged 12 and over and adults.

What is it for?

Fenistil® sugar-coated tablets can be used to relieve itching and allergic symptoms, including in cases of:

• Eczema and other itchy skin conditions

• Hives (urticaria)

• Insect stings and insect bites

• Chickenpox and other childhood diseases associated with itching

• Food allergies

• Drug allergies

• Hay fever with sneezing and itching of the nose

• Allergic conjunctivitis

Properties and effect

In the event of allergic reactions, the body releases histamine. This endogenous messenger substance plays a significant role in symptoms such as itching, redness, and swelling.

Fenistil® sugar-coated tablets contain an antihistamine active ingredient that inhibits the effect of histamine, thereby alleviating typical allergic symptoms.

Use and dosage

For adolescents aged 12 and over and adults, the recommended dosage is:

1–2 sugar-coated tablets 3 times daily.

The sugar-coated tablets should be taken according to the package leaflet. The recommended dosage must not be exceeded.

Important notes

Fenistil® sugar-coated tablets can cause fatigue and reduced alertness. This may impair the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery, in particular.

Alcohol and other substances with a depressant effect may enhance the sedative effect.

Medical advice should be sought for allergic symptoms that are persistent, severe, or unclear.

In the event of severe allergic reactions with shortness of breath, circulatory problems, or swelling in the mouth and throat area, Fenistil® is not a substitute for emergency medical treatment.

Side effects and tolerability

Like all medicines, Fenistil® sugar-coated tablets can cause side effects.

In particular, fatigue or drowsiness may occur. Please refer to the package leaflet for further possible side effects and their frequency.

If you experience unusual or severe symptoms, you should stop taking the medicine and seek medical or pharmaceutical advice.
