How is BIOGELAT UroAkut® D-Mannose with Cranberry Granules used?

The granules are used dietetically for the treatment of acute and recurrent urinary tract infections. It is suitable for both acute complaints and frequent relapses.

The special blend of D-mannose and cranberry extract helps to prevent bacteria from adhering to the mucous membranes of the urinary tract, so they can be more easily excreted with urine.

D-Mannose

D-mannose is a naturally occurring monosaccharide found in various fruits and berries. It is also naturally present in the urinary tract.

D-mannose can prevent the adhesion of certain bacteria, especially Escherichia coli, to the mucous membrane of the urinary tract, which facilitates the flushing out of these bacteria.

Cranberry Fruit

Cranberries contain valuable plant compounds such as proanthocyanidins (PAC), which can contribute to urinary tract health by making it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the mucous membranes.

Laboratory tests confirm this anti-adhesion effect, especially with a daily intake of 36 mg of PAC.

Combination of D-Mannose and Cranberry

D-mannose and cranberry PAC act in different ways against the adhesion of bacteria to the mucous membrane of the urinary tract and complement each other effectively.

Vitamin C and Vitamin D3

Vitamin C helps protect cells from oxidative stress, while vitamin D3 supports the normal function of the immune system.

Recommended intake

For acute urinary tract infection

Day 1–3: take 1 sachet each morning and evening with sufficient water. If necessary, 1 additional sachet can be taken at midday.

From Day 4: 1 sachet daily, preferably in the evening before bedtime, until the symptoms have completely subsided.

For recurrent urinary tract infection

Take 1 sachet daily in the evening before bedtime for a longer period.

Preparation

Dissolve the contents of one sachet in approximately 200 ml of water and drink slowly. The granules can be consumed as both a hot or cold drink.

To maintain a high concentration of D-mannose in the bladder, no large amount of liquid should be consumed immediately after intake.

Notes

In some cases, the urine may smell more intense after the first intake, which can indicate the excretion of bacteria.

Higher amounts of D-mannose can have a mild laxative effect with prolonged use.

Use only under medical supervision. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition.

Side effects

In higher doses, D-mannose can have a mild laxative effect. In sensitive individuals, occasional gastrointestinal complaints may occur.
